HOUSING Mr". McGivern informed the Commission that

Depar of Housing and Community Development in
S:acramenta,j to discuss the inclusion of a housing
element. in the General Plan. Mr. McGivern also
infokmed the 'Commission of a symposium to be held
in San Francisco on September filth to assist local
offizJ"Lals:,to better understand what is required
for the inclusion :of a housing element in a General
Plan and urged. the Commissioners to attend this
meeting.
MAGNOLIA Acting Ken Styles opened the publichearing
LIBERTY"" to consider the establishment of precise plan lines
PLAN On - a portion of Magnolia Avenue from Petaluma
LINES Boulevard North to Keokuk "Street; the extension of
Liberty Street from Wes-t Street. to Magnolia Avenue,
for the Purpose of establishing future,rights-of-
way. Mr. Hal Wood,, Assistant City Engineer, gave
a: comprehen report- of the area in question,
indicating Approximately how much land was in
V o lVed for each prckperty Mr. Nielseh
representing Nielsen Freight Lines, located on
Magnolia Avenue, objected to the proposed adoption
of the plan lines end directed several questions
to the Commission relLtiV to who would pay for
the public improvements, etc® Comm, Styles
stated, that these were only guide,lines which would
be us ed - ed for determin;ing setbacks for 'future con-
s in the area, And not the actual acquisi-
tionof any property., City Manager Meyer further
explained that the Magnolia Avenue project did not
have f irst priority of City public improvement
'projects. A motion, ,'recommending the adoption of
the ptecise - plan lines to the City Council a

minor subdivision on. Chefity Street„ Item #2
s et.ed that 'the. applicant shall d eed a IO foot
widening strip along ths, entire frontage of
,Parcel I :and 2 to the City of Petaluma for fixture
widening of C Sired . I 43 stated that a
new p roperty, 'line radius at the a ngle point in
Cherry Street shall be 10'0: feet in length as
shown. on the revised tentative map Mrs. Combs
stated that they did not obj:eQt to the 10 foot
strip dedication but objected' to the 100 foot
