Helen Putman was appointed, by Resolution Ag to fill
the, Vacancy ,created by the resignatiion" of'Mr, Thursto4,

Councilman Leland Myeta was appointed as a Commissioner
by 'Resolution #645` - for , the term of orie� year commencing
July 1950.

The Fire Chief recommended that one fire
hydrant , be - placed in the new'subdivision on

May. This hydrant must be on a. six inch main.

the. Council about who pays for the Fire Hydrants.

The Commission asked to be provided with a map

showing the pole location so that the Commission

can recommend to the Council that grope -r- lighting
be provided for this area. They also asked that

sections be made as a part of the firnl map.

A resolution was introduced by Commissioner

Arfsten, seconded by Commissioner Kinne

approving the tentative map and recommending
to the City Council sub ject to' the changes as
recommended by the City Engineer, the providing
of a front line setback of 20 .ft. ; .providing an
additional map to the City Planning Commission
showing lighting pole locations; indicating
drainage of streets and ,a letter shall be sub-
mitted stating that the street sections shall
comply with the standard street sections of the
City of Petaluma.

for a variance at the. next regular meeting.

A letter was received from Mr. Rosenbloom M. M. ROSENBLOOM

in which he asked, an opinion from the
Commission. He wished to build two houses
on a lot 77 x 100 on Sixth Street.

The Clerk was instructed t.o write to
Mr. Rosenbloom saying the Commission felt

that he: should conform with the existing,
ordinance unl,e�ss some hardship case exists
which the Commission does not know about.

The minutes,o the previous meeting were approved as mailed out.

This being the time set for a pub.li.c hearing,
the Chairman called for protests and as the Com-
miasion could see no ob j'ections and there were
no prote °sts to granting the variance, a. resolution
was introduced by Commtssi.oner .Kinne and se :conded
by Commissioner Arfsten approving the variance
and recommending its approval by the City Council.

Mr. Hansen appeared at the meeting; and
asked the opinion of the, Commi:s.si =on -.. He
has a lot on Edith St.reet- which,has a
frontage of 54 ft. and a depth o:f 1 9 ft.
on, which he has one dwelling. He wants to
build a small residence, 21 x 20,, on the
back of his lot. "His lot is an R -1 zone
but is bordered by an R - zone in the rear.
A long discussion w.as held regarding whether
it would be more desirable to subdivide or
whether a: variance should be required. It
was decided that for everyone conc,e.r,ned, a
variance would be better for Mr. Hansen
for his neighbors;
