The purpose of the meeting was to take action on the Gene Paige application for a variance. Present: Commissioner Arfsten,'Brown, Kinne, Putnam °and De Luca Absent:. None City. Officials Present: Mr. Neis, I'VIr Marshall, and Mr. Krause Application for a variance for the Paige GENE PAIGE property located on D Street: ivx. Paige and Mr. Ferrera were present. The',variance applied for included front setback on attached garage shall be. 16 ft. measured from the property= l ine to' the front wall of the garage; south sideyard setback shall be 2.81 ft. measured from the south property line to the south wall of the garage; rear yard shall be 15.1 ft. measured from the propertyr line to east wall. All eaves, including gutters, shall extend not more than 3 ft. 4 in. from side walls. except along the south side of garage where . eaves, including gutter, shall not exceed 2 ft.; also to acquire and add strip 5 ft. in width along north-side of property for entire depth. The date for public hearing was .set for November 27, 1950,'at.7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, City Nall. The notice of public hearing was ordered posted and published. The 'meeting was ad j ourhe d at 4 t 45 p.m.- Secretary - PlanniAg Coom cession The regular meeting of the Planning Commission was held in the Council Chambers, City hall., on November 27, 1950, at 7 :30 p.m. .Present: Commissioner Arfsten, Brat, Putnam and Kinne Absent: Commissioner De Luca City Officials Present: Mr. Marshall, Mr-..Neis and Mr. Brooks The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as'written. Mr. Paige's application for a variance, was read. and PUBLIC HEAPING - Eugene Paige given to the clerk for.filing. The affidavit idav t of posting and publishing were filed at t This being the time set for a public hearing, November 27, 1950 Vice Chairman Krone called `for any expressions from the assembly. Attorney Le id Crormryell was present, representing Mrs. Inwood. He stated that Mrs.. Inwood had no objections to the setbacks or sideyards and as the eaves including gutter, on the south side of the garage will not exceed 2 ft., she had.no objections Whatsoever. He further stated that since this ruatter has come up, he has read -the entire. Zoning Ordinance with care and attention and he thought early consideration shoul:d'be given to some amendments to the ordinance which will clarify some of the points whi may have caused this incident Mr. Crornvrell thought•::.setback and property line should'both'be defined ITIV. Kinne said a hearing will be held in the very near future to discuss changes in the Zoning Ordinance and =the. Commission would appreciate Mr.. Cromwell't s appear- ance at that time with any °suggestions he might have. ?Ar. CromVrrell also informed the Commission that Mr,. Paige had acquired the Ae*rner property and a five foot strip had been added to his property along the north side for the entire depth as stated in the variance application. Mr. J. A. McGaughey, R.t .1, Box 461, zrras also present and said he felt definite setbacks and sideyards should be established and in the ordinance hlarin County has such an arrangement and he thought it would .be desirable for Petaluma. There being no further comments from the assembly and there being no objections from.the Commissioners, a. resolution was introduced by Commissioner Brown and seconded by Commissioner Putnam recommending that the City Council, grant the application of Eugene Paige for a variance. Ayes: Commissioner Arfsten; Bro - Lm., Putnam and Kinne Noes , - Iqone A sent: Commissioner De Luca Mayor Dyers asked that the Commission adjourn their meeting to the office of the City Manager at this time as the Council had a scheduled meeting for this time to act on the Eugene Paige application for a variance.. A copy of M-r.. Marshall's letter to S'afevvay Stores OFF STREET PARKING regarding.off street parking in residentially zoned areas was ,read. The dates were set for public hearings by - the ZOI�TING ORD INANCE Planning Comriission'on the proposed amendment to Public Hearing Chapter XVI of the Zoning Ordinance No. 123 N.G.S. This change would eliminate 2 hearings by the Council on zoning changes. E The dates for - Public hearings vrere set for December 11, 1950 at 4:30 p;m: and December 26, 1950., at 7 :30 p,.m. A letter was read from the; City Attorney, stating that he could .see no objections to allowing, 'Mr. Bilbro to designate and. identify the strip of property extending. from G Street to two duplexes as a d.ourt. After a di- scussion, it was decided that a letter be addressed to the Council: informinq them . that the Commission is heartily in favor of development of Clark Street and that procedures for securing a right- of -way and the improvement of a street of suitable width should be accomplished as soon. as Possible, 'Mr. and ?ors. Brost, 510 Baker Street, appeared MR. L MRS. FROST and said a truck has been blocking their driveway. They have asked the driver to move, Z , dth. no results. They felt it would be desirable to meet with the Fire Department at a later date to discuss possible locations and their merits. NO action was. taken at this time.
