i TERMINATING ANIMAL CONTROL
z CONTRACT WITII TLC
3 WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma and TLC entered into a contract for Animal Control
a Services on August 14, 1995; and
s WHEREAS, the City has received numerous complaints regarding the quality of animal
e care and the lack of professionalism displayed by both principals and employees of TLC;
~ and
a WHEREAS, there has been a default in the contract by virtue of failure to comply with
9 Paragraph 9A of the agreement regarding compliance with the laws, regulations and
io ordihances, inadequacy of financial and operational reports, failure to properly perform
u animal control services, unauthorized charging of fees and filing out reports and submittal
iz of same, and noncompliance and inattention to safety issues; and,
is WHEREAS, the contract may be terminated with a 30 day notice pursuant to Paragraph 20
is of said contract:
is NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Petaluma that
ie 1. The animal control contract between the City of Petaluma and TLC is hereby
n terminated in thirty days and staff is directed to take the necessary steps to see that the
is animal control operation remains ongoing.
~9 2. Staff is hereby authorized to discuss with TLC representatives whether or not there
zo is any money due and owing on the TLC contract, and if there is any, what the amount
zi may be.
Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
