of the City Of Petaluma, California
SUPPORTING COMPLETION OF THE STONY POINT ROAD
FEDERAL DEMONSTRATION PROJECT
WHEREAS, US 101 in Sonoma County is very congested during many hours of the
day; and,
WHEREAS, Stony Point Road could be improved as a parallel alternative route from
Petaluma to northerly of US 101; and,
WHEREAS, in order for a parallel route to function efficiently, access to the parallel
route must be convenient and uncongested for motorists; and,
WHEREAS, the City believes that in order to function as a desirable alternative to US
101, the widening of the existing Old Redwood Highway Overcrossing at US 101 to
connect with Stony Point Road is necessary to create easy access to a desirable
alternative route.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Petaluma continues to
support the concept of improving Stony Point Road as a parallel route to US 101
together with incorporation of the widening of the Old Redwood. Highway
Overcrossing at US 101 as a component of the proposed project.
