Absent;: Commissioners.ElmOre and Salles, City Officialsa City .Engineer Russell Ingram and City Manager Ed Frank, BARNEY mARgbLIS Chairman Taylor welcomed Commissioner Barney MMMdrgolis who:was appointed by the Council on March 4, 1957. APPROVAL 'OF MINU1 Minutes of February 199 1'957 were approved as recorded, CORRESPONDENCE Letter'from Petaluma Senior High School .P,T,A, stat n their opposition to the plans for a &Tveway from the Cavanagh Property opening onto Far.Street opposite the high school was read and filed, `EDWARD' AVILL►A This being the time" and place for the public hearing on the application of Edward Avilla 881 Olive Street, 'for variances as , „ follows 3' ft, ' side yard for proposed carport and 3 ft,. rear ,yard for existing; garage, as house, pro - posed carport and garage" will be one continuous building., 'R -1 zone:;., Chairman. Taylor- called for expressions. Mr. Avilla was present and stated that-: he would .like- to build a carport for more en joy of his property.. No expressions were heard :in opposition to the variance. * In. answer toy - a question from .C.ommis-sioner Brown, Mr. Avilla stated that this carport would not be used in conjunction with his T V installation business. A- general discussion followed and upon the sug- gestion of Commissioner Brown, the following condition-was placed upon the granting of the variance, "The carport shall in no way permit any enlargement of the nonconforming use of the property.." Chairman 'Taylor informed 1&. Avilla that if the variance was granted, it would not eliminate any Of the requirements of Building Code and that the carport would have to comply with all.the regulations .of. said Code ;and that he 'should cheek with the Engineering Department in regard to the fire resistive materials that would have to be • used in the carport: due to its nearness to the adjoining premises:, Resolution No. U1 X57 'grant.- ing, the variance was introduced by Commissioner Margolis seconded° by Commissi:on,er Brown and unanlmou81Y passed by all members present, MARCH 5 1957 �­ pa °ge 2 L�IS A.
