4 AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION WITH THE
5 METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION FO12
6 ALLOCATION OF T12ANSPOI2TATION DEVELOPMENT ACT/
7 STATE TRANSIT ASSISTANCE FUNDS FOR FISCAL YEAR 1996-97

10 WHEREAS, the Transportation Development Act (TDA) (Public Utilities Code Section 99200
11 et seq.) provides for the disbursement of funds from the Local Transportation Fund (LTF) of the County
12 of Sonoma for use by eligible applicants for the purpose of fixed route and paratransit services; and
13
14 WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the TDA, and pursuant to the applicable rules and
15 regulations thereunder (21 Cal. Code of Regs. Section 6600 et seq.) a prospective applicant wishing to
16 receive an allocation from the Local Transportation Pund (LTF) shall file its claim with the Metropolitan
17 Transportation Commission; and

19 WHEREAS, the State Transit Assistance (STA) fund is created pursuant to Public Utilities Codc
20 Section 99310 et seq.; and
21
22 WHEREAS, the STA fiord makes funds available pursuant to Public Utilities Code Section
23 99313.6 for allocation to eligible applicants to support approved transit projects; and
24
25 WHEREAS, TDA funds from the Local Transportation Fund of Sonoma County and STA fund
26 will be required by applicant in Fiscal Year 19996 for fixed route and paratransit services; and

28 WHEREAS, the City ofPetaluma is an eligible applicant for. TDA and/or STA funds pursuant to
29 PUC sections 99260, 99260(a) and 99400 as attested by the opinion of counsel dated March 7, 1996.
l NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor or City Manager ofhis/her designee
2 is authorized to execute and file appropriate TDA/STA applications, together with all necessary
3 supporting documents, with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission for an allocation of TDA and
4 STA funds in Fiscal Year 1996-97.

6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the
7 Metropolitan Transportation Commission in conjunction with the filing of the claim; and the
8 Metropolitan Transportation Commission be requested to grant the, allocations of funds as specified
9 herein.
