Copy of letter from City Manager to the Mayor and
Members. of The C t Counc re, Landscaping. Freeway
Petaluma - w;as` noted, acid filed City Manager Ed Frank
addressed the Commission stating, that the Council had
received. a letter from the State Division, of Highways
Irtforming them that funds had been allocated% for land-
scaping the Redwood Highway within the City of Petalu
but before this could be accom .lfshed the City must
adopt .an ordinance con :trolliing outdoor advertising within
the C.ty He ,"pjained ,that the procedure followed ;in .
the a.doptidh. of an btdinance of this type was for "the City
Attorney to, Araw up a- preliminary ordinance and submit
It to the Planning Commission for their' study and recom
menclation prior. to final action by the: City Council..

Mr Charles Meyers was present representing the
Petaluma Junk Co aiid .stated. that .they had been in
business i.n that locatfon for 7 ,years and since they
were ' seme distance from the street nothing was '
from the street except a 30: foot crane which Gould be

stated ,that h:e was 'not aware of an Armory being built
i_n the rear of their esabli-shmerit, but when they
started ; , construction, and if thei Commission desired,
they would. be willing to put lip a fence on, the back 'side,

At the suggestion of Commissioner McCausland and the
other .members being in agrebment it was decided .that
the. .Commissioner's. should field check' th area and the,,
matter- be discussed further at the next regular ,meeting
on December 3rd ° Mr. Meyers was requested; to be
present at, that time.
The use permit applications were .next considered° The
clerk �explai:ned ,that inasmuch as .all the perr"nit
applicatiOns.,before the. Commissaon.,at this- reques-
ted
permiss:on.to _se11 chrstma at various
toca- ti°ons in the City; they had been combined' ,into one
resolution.. Whereupon ''Reso'luiion Nb, U28 - 57,, intro-

Commissioner Parsons -, granting use permits to, the
following a,pplieants to sell, Christmas trees at the
designated locations during .the coming .holi:day 'season
