HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 96-106 04/29/1996 Resolution No. 96-106 N.C.S. of the Ciry of Petaluma, California RESCINDING THE CITY COUNCIL ACTION OF THE SEPTEMBER 19, 1994, PROPOSAL TO EXCHANGE THE LAFFERTY RANCH FOR MOON RANCH WHEREAS, on September 19, 1994, the City Council approved a proposal to exchange the City owned 270 acre Lafferty Ranch for the 381 acre Moon Ranch to provide a regional park in the Sonoma Mountains and to provide 661 acres in permanent open space; and, WHEREAS, one of the major reasons the City Council pursued an exchange as the means to acquire a regional park was the past practice of the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District (SCAPOSD) to focus on the acquisition of conservation easements and to not acquire fee interest in properties for recreational purposes; and, WHEREAS, the SCAPOSD has been presented with the opportunity and has recently acquired fee interests in property for recreational purposes; and, WHEREAS, on April 15, 1996, Supervisor Jim Harberson committed to the City Council to work diligently to seek funding to acquire a regional park; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Petaluma rescinds its action of September 19, 1994, and removes the City owned 270 acre Lafferty Ranch from consideration for trade or sale. Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
