C501000 1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: C. Hardy General Engineering Contractor, Inc. has completed the 2004-2005 Water Service Replacement Project for $493,500. The budget for�construction is $521,000. City Management recommends the City Council approve the resolution accepting the completion of the project. 2. BACKGROUND: The Department of,Water Resources and Conservation annually replaces deteriorating water services throughout the City to maintain and improve the condition of the City's water system. These improvements reduce our water system operating costs and ensure reliable delivery of Water to, our customers by reducing unanticipated system failures: The 2004-2005 Water Service Replacement Project involved:replacing approximately 145 deteriorating water services on Ely Boulevard South between East Washington Street,and Casa Grande Road. Replacement of these services was scheduled in advance of planned street resurfacing by Department of Public Works. The Department of Water Resources, and Conservation prepared the. plans and specifications for this project. The Notice Inviting -Bids was issued on February 24, 2005. Bids were received and opened on March 24, 2005. The contract was awarded by the City Council on April 18, 2005. The 10% retention is due and payable 60 days after the acceptance of the project. ALTERNATIVES: Accept -the completion of the project. 4. FINANCIAL IMPACTS: CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT GENERAL FUND. TOTAL $470,000 23,500 $493.500 The final construction cost -is $493,500, which is funded by the Water Funds. The construction budget is $521,000. FA 5. CONCLUSION: Following the acceptance of .the project, the City .Clerk will file a Notice of Completion with • Sonoma County Recorder and Finance. Department will release the retention money, to the Contractor 60 days after the acceptance of the'project. 6. OUTCOMES OR PERFORMANCE'ME'ASUREMENTS THAT WILL -IDENTIFY SUCCESS OR COMPLETION: Completion, of the construction. %. RECOMMENDATION: City Management recommends that, the- City Council adopt the resolution accepting; completion of the 2004-2005 Water Service ReplacemeritTroject. • ACCEPTING COMPLETION OF THE 2004-2005 WATER SERVICE REPLACEMENT PROJECT PROJECT NO. C50'1000 WHEREAS, the City Council awarded the contract for the 2004-2005 Water Service Replacement Project to C. Hardy General Engineering Contractor, Inc., 3265 Old Adobe Road, Petaluma, CA 94954, on April ,1;8; 2005; WHEREAS, C. Hardy General Engineering Contractor, Inc. has completed the work to the satisfaction of the Director of Water Resources & Conservation; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Petaluma, that the project is hereby accepted subject to the Contractor completing the punch list work within thirty days after acceptance. of the project. NOW BE IT RESOLVED by the Petaluma City Council that: 1. The City Clerk is hereby authorized to sign the Notice of.Completion and file the same with Sonoma County Recorder. 2. The Finance Department is hereby authorized to release the, retention money to C. Hardy General Engineering Contractor, Inc. sixty days after the acceptance of the project provided that no liens or stop notices have been filed against the project. 3.- This resolution shall become effective immediately. 4. All portions of this resolution are severable. Should any individual component of this resolution be adjudged to be invalid and unenforceable by a body of competent jurisdiction, .then- the remaining resolution portions shall be and continue in full force and effect,. except as 'to those resolution portions that have been adjudge invalid. The City Council of the.
