Additionally, replacing these vehicles on aregular basis w ' ill cut down,on the exposure to injuries . . that could result ro M during high- mileage vehicles durin emergency situations. ' The Police Department has identified the ,need for eight, ( 8) replacements in this fiscal year. They will replace four (4) that will be retired from -'the Police fleet and four (4) that will be assigned to the Community Services Officers. All vehicles that are not used for police purposes will be evaluated to determine whether they will be of use to other City departments. Downtown Ford, the preferred vendor, holds the State contract for police vehicles. It has also been our experience that they have the lowest prices even when we have out to formal bid. , Therefore, to , expedife'the purchase of these vehicles., it is requested that Councilapprove the purchase from Downtown Ford as a sold source vendor. POLICE INTERCEPTOR PATROL VEHICLES' FROM DOWNTOWN FORD IN THE AMOUNT OF $258;821 WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma Police Department identified a requirement for two new vehicles to replace a damaged one and provide a vehicle to use for the abandoned vehicle program, and, WHEREAS, the State of California has a contract for police patrol vehicles with Downtown Ford of Sacramento, and, WHEREAS, Police department staff requested the eight patrol vehicles be purchased under the State of California contract in order to receive and place the vehicles in service as soon as possible, and, WHEREAS, approval was granted to purchase the vehicles under the State of California contract, and, l NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby authorizes the purchase of two 2004 Ford patrol vehicles from Downtown Ford in the amount of $258,821 u Administrative Services, 969 Petaluma Boulevard North, Petaluma, CA 94952 (707) 778 7 -4445 Fax (707) 778 -4502 .
