Summary Statement:
Letters have been received from the Petaluma Museum Association . recommending the appointment of
Michael B. Iritz and Heritage Homes of Petaluma recommending appointment of Corrine Farez-Demil.
Ordinance 2097 adopted September 7, 1999, establishes one-year terms from .July I to June 30 of each
fiscal year or until their - successors are designated. Should the City Council wish to amend the length of
te.n to 'Match that of the Site Plan and Architectural Review Coninlittee, which is two (2) years, an
�ordinance can be-prepared and brou'ght forward to reflect that change.

Consideration of the two resolutions of appointment is recommended, as well as direction regarding the
need to move forward with legislation to change the length of terms for the Historical and Cultural
Preservation Committee.

Discussion and Appointments to Vacancles on Historical and Cultural Preservation Committee.
1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
There are currently two vacancies on the Historical .and Cultural Preservation Committee, one
representing Heritage Homes of Petaluma and one representing Petaluma Museum Association.
2. BACKGROUND
The two vacancies were created on the Historical.and Cultural Preservation Committee earlier this year
as a result of the.passing of ElberC'Hopldns and resignation of Marianne Hurley.
Letters have been received from the Petaluma Museum Association recommending the appointment of
Michael B. Iritz and Heritage Homes of Petaluma recommending appointment of Corrine Farez- Demil.
Ordinance 2097 adopted September 7, 1999, . establishes one -year terms from July 1 to June 30 of each
fiscal year or until their successors are designated. Should' the City Council 'wish to amend the length of
term to match that of the Site Plan and Architectural Review Committee,' which is two (2) years, an
ordinance can be prepared and brought forward to reflect that change.
3. ALTERNATIVES
The City Council may adopt resolutions appointing'Micha -B. Iritz and Corrine Farez - Demil to the
Historical and Cultural Preservation Committee; or
The City Council may choose to leave the positions vacant at this time.
The City Council may want to direct staff to bring back legislation changing the terms for Historical and
cultural Preservation Committee Members to two (2) year terms.
4. FINANCIAL IMPACTS
There is no financial impact.
5. RECOMMENDATION
Consideration of the two. resolutions of appointment is r—onim, ended, as well as direction regarding the
need to move forward with legislation `to change the length of terms for the Historical and Cultural
Preservation Committee.

RESOLUTION APPOINTING
CORRINE FAREZ- DE'MIL
TO THE
HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL PRESERVATION COMMITTEE
BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council does hereby appoint CORRINE FAREZ -DEMIL
as the representative of Heritage Homes of Petaluma to the Historical and Cultural Preservation
Committee to fill a one -year term to expire June 3.0', 2004, or as soon thereafter as a successor is
appointed, whichever is later.
