I recognize both the hard work that, has been done. to date to bring passenger rail to our region, and the many challenges th4reinain ahead, particularly in these difficult; econ ornic tinges. The goal of implementing passenger rail is very irnportalt to me, and .I look forward to playing a role, in achieving that goal. I have served on the Sonoma County Transportation Authority for the past-two years. I believe that I am. qualified for the following reasons: 1. Asa strong advocate for regional transportation solutions, I have been a leading supporter of the development of the ` Cotati Multi- modal. transit, center, which will be an. important station for future rail. commuter service. This planning eff©rt, which predated the establishment of both-SMART I and TI; resulted in the successful receipt -of a $2.5 million grant from the federal government. This project is well underway, and will be completed within the next year. 2. Prior to my election to the Cotati City Council, I was a long -titre member of the City of Cotati Planning Commission, where I, enthusiastically supported transit - related projects within the City (supported by local City revenues) that had both local and regional benefits. These projects includedipark- and-ride facilities and state- of = art bus shelters that honor commuters i)y providing aesthetically pleasing spaces, Lame conunitted to the reality of a regional rail transit system; and will work.hard to achieve this goal. I Would certainly4ppreciate your °support. You may reach me at 792 -2526 in the evew ngs if you have any questions.
