administration, design and. construction management. Sufficient funds are available to accept and close out
the project.
Recommended City Council Action /Suggested Motion:
Adopt the resolution accepting completion of the construction contract, authorizing the City Clerk to sign
and file a Notice of Completion with Sonoma County Recorder, and the Finance .Department to release
10% retention, to the Contractor 35 days after the recordation of the Notice of Completion.

RESOLUTION - ACCEPTING THE COMPLETION OF'THE TRAFFIC LOOP INSTALLATION
PROJECT No. 03- 8063 -3 (formerly 03- 3306 -3)
1. EXECUTIVE. SUMMARY
On January 5, 2004, Mike Brown Electric completed work on the Traffic Loop
Installation Project; for a final construction cost of $34,221.12. The total cost of the
project was $36,077:65, including administration, design and construction management.
Sufficient funds are available to accept and close out the project.
2. BACKGROUND
The purpose of this project was to replace malfunctioning traffic loops, where necessary,
as well as install new loops replace existing camera systems. The City determined that
the sun's angle.and atmospheric conditions caused the cameras to malfunction and the
system to subsequently go into default mode, causing traffic delays. New traffic loops
have corrected this situation.
Originally the contract was initiated at $57,224:35. However, a portion of the work was
deleted due to lack of `available funds. The amount of the deletion contract change order
was $23,003.23. Contract change orders are on file with the City Clerk.
3. ALTERNATIVES:
a. Accept completion of the project.
4. FINANCIAL IMPACTS
'The, total cost:of this project was $36,077.65, including general fund overhead,
administration, design, construction and contingency. Sufficient funds are available to
accept and close out the project.

reduction.

7. RECOMMENDATION
Adopt the resolution accepting completion of the ;construction contract, authorizing the

recordation of the Notice of Completion.

ACCEPTING THE COMPLETION OF THE TRAFFIC SIGNAL
INSTALLATION PROJECT NO. 03- 8063 -3 (formerly 03- 3306 -3)
WHEREAS, on June lb, 2003, the City Council awarded to Mike Brown
Electric, the construction contract for the Traffic Signal Loop Installation project.
WHEREAS, Mike Brown Electric, Inc. has completed all the work to the
satisfaction of the Director, Public Facilities & Services.
NOW THEREFOR BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Petaluma, California, that the project is hereby accepted,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Petaluma
authorizes the City Clerk to sign the Notice of Completion and file same with Sonoma
County Recorder, and that the Finance Department is hereby authorized to release the ten

percent (10 %) retention to Mike Brown Electric within thirty -five (35) days after the
recordation of the Notice of Completion.
