RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE LAND USE MAP OP THE
GENERAL PLAN CHANGING 'fHE DESIGNATION OF A 1.2 ACRE PORTION OF
THE PETALUMA HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT PROPERTY SITE LOCATED AT 700
BANTAM WAY, AP NO. 006-441-022,
FROM SCHOOL TO URBAN STANDARD
WHEREAS, the Petaluma High School District has requested a General Plan Land Use
Map Amendment to change the designation of a 1.2 acre portion of the site located at 700
Bantam Way, APN 006-441-022, from School to Urban Standard (Residential); and,
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Petaluma held a noticed public
hearing on August 27, 1996, and September 10, 1996 on the subject application, heard
testimony and considered all written and verbal communication on the matter before
rendering their recommendation for approval to the City Council; and,
WHEREAS, all reports and communications to the Planning Commission were
forwarded to the City Council; and,
WHEREAS, the City Cormcil held a duly noticed public hearing to consider this
amendment on November 4, 1996, and considered all written and verbal communication
before rendering its decision; and,
WHEREAS, the potential environmental impacts of the proposal were considered, and
proper action has been taken by the City Council in compliance with the California
Environmental Quality Act and local environmental guidelines.
NOW. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Petaluma City Council hereby
approves the requested amendment to the General Plan Land Use Map subject to the
following findings:
Environmental Findings
On the basis of the Initial Study, there is no substantial evidence that the project
as conditioned would have a significant effect on the environment.
2. Through the Initial. Study, Planning Staff has evaluated the potential for this
project to cause an adverse effect -- either individually or cumulatively on wildlife
resources, and there is no evidence that the proposed project would have any
potential for adverse effect on wildlife resoutces because the property is located.
within an entirely developed neighborhood and will not im~olve any physical
changes to the property or to its use.

General Plan Amendment Findines
The proposed amendment is in conformance with the Petaluma General Plan and
will help to implement goals, objectives and programs of the General Plan relating
to the development of underutilized properties with residential uses and
encouraging development within the Urban Limit Line.
2. The proposed amendment is deemed to be in the public interest to provide for
orderly development of appropriate residential uses.
3. The proposed amendment is consistent and compatible with the rest of the
General Plan and any implementation programs that may be affected.
4. The potential impacts of the proposed amendment have been assessed and have
been determined not to be detrimental to the public health, safety or welfare.
5. The proposed amendment has been processed in accordance with the applicable.
provisions of the California. Government Code and the California Environmental.
Quality Act (CEQA).
