CALIFORNIA WILDLIFE CONSERVATION DOARD, AND THE CALIF

TOLAY .LADE RAN:CR: °PROPERTY AS; A REGIONAL PARK FOR SONOMA

WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 04 -0345, the Board of Directors of the Sonoma County
Agricultural Preservation and. Open Space District on April 20, 2004 authorized the execution of
a one -year option to acquire the 1,737 acre Tolay Lake Ranch property' located at 5869 Lakeville
Highway in Petaluma (APN's 068 -060 -057, 058; 068- 070 -004, 005; 068 -080 -001) for a
purchase price of.$18,000,000- 'and,
WIMREAS, the purpose oftheone -year option is to give the District and the Sonoma

County Regional.Parks Department an opportunityto complete their due diligence, secure
si g p g w ard the purchase price, and be satisfied that the condition of
m scant' artneshi p f undin g tow
• the property is sufficient for the .intended use of the property for park purposes; and,
WHEREAS, the purpose proposed acquisition'is to: (1) create a county-regional
park that would provide recreational opportunities; (2) restore the ancient Tolay Lake and its
natural environs; (3) preserve the extensive cultural resources located on the•property; (4)
preserve the open space character of the property; and (5) provide educational and research
opportunities related to the:natural and cultural resources; and
WHEREAS
, t_he City of Petaluma desires to. support the District's and the Regional Parks
Department s .'efforts�and acknowledge'the resolve and hard work;of Second District Supervisor
Mike Kerns and the S'onoxna!bCounty B bard of Supervisors to purchase Tolay Lake Ranch.
NOW, THEREFORE; BE "IT RESbLVED that
:the City of Petaluma supports the above-
-noted Resolution adopted by; ,Board of Supervisors of County of Sonoma, State of
California, on April-.20,1004; and

Recreation Departmentlo provide the necessary Ainding to support the. above' -noted Resolut on
adopted by the Board' of,Supery sors of the County of Sonoma, State of'California, on April.20,
2004.
