EX ECUTIVE `SUMWARY . 11 12 As part of their centennial' project, the Rotary Club of Petaluma .is paying for the purchase and 13 installation of,playground equipment for Walnut Park. With the: assistance of members of the 14 Mother's Club,. equipment has been selected and the playground. designed. Ross Recreation 15 Equipment of Santa Rosa has been.working with, the group for two years and it is,recommended that u 16 they are the sole source for the equipment -to be ordered. 17 18 2. BA CKGROUND : 19 " 20 The Petaluma Rotary Club of`Petaluma recently`participated with the'City in installing a new 21 playground in McNearPark. The Club, as part of their hi gift to the City, is paying for the 22 purchase and installation of a new playground for Walnut Park. Members of the Mother's Club of 23 Petaluma have once again assisted in designing the new playground and equipment, with the 24 assistance of Ross Recreation Equipment of Santa>Rosa..` The Tecommendation is to have Ross 25 Recreation identified as sole source for the project due to their working relationship with the Rotary Club and the Mother's Club over the ast two years. In. addition to the new ary p { ygr their Interact component from 28 Petaluma High School, will also pairi� benches tables and the gazebo in Walnut Park during the 29 month of September, as.a hands on project. 30 The replacement of the playground assists the City in meeting its ADA requirements for bringing 31 playground facilities up'to' code. 32 33 3: ALTERNATIVES 34 35 a. Not accept the ;gracious :offer at this time, 36 b. Direct staffto redesign the.playground. .37 c. Accept Rotary's offer and proceed with the project. 38 3.9 4. FINANCIAL ACTS 40 41 The purchase and installation, of the playground will cost $60 The Rotary Club of Petaluma is 42 committed to paying for the price of the playground. 'They currently have some $31,000 on hand, 43 and will raise the balance; with their spring fundraiser. 44 45 5. CONCLUSION 46 47 As part of their centennial project; the, Rotary Club of,Petaluma::has offered to replace the Walnut 4 Park Playground and to paint remaining park furniture and the gazebo in the park.
