Summary Statement:
The Rotary Club of Petaluma, as part, of the club's centennial gift. to th is paying for the replacement
of the Walnut Park Playground. The City will purchase the 6quiprnent,' with the club reimbursing the City
for purchase and installation of the playground. The vendof, - kos§ Recreation is recommended as a sole

As part of their centennial' project, the Rotary Club of Petaluma .is paying for the purchase and

installation of,playground equipment for Walnut Park. With the: assistance of members of the
14
Mother's Club,. equipment has been selected and the playground. designed. Ross Recreation
15
Equipment of Santa Rosa has been.working with, the group for two years and it is,recommended that

they are the sole source for the equipment -to be ordered.

The Petaluma Rotary Club of`Petaluma recently`participated with the'City in installing a new
21
playground in McNearPark. The Club, as part of their hi gift to the City, is paying for the
22
purchase and installation of a new playground for Walnut Park. Members of the Mother's Club of
23
Petaluma have once again assisted in designing the new playground and equipment, with the
24
assistance of Ross Recreation Equipment of Santa>Rosa..` The Tecommendation is to have Ross
25
Recreation identified as sole source for the project due to their working relationship with the Rotary
Club and the Mother's Club over the ast two years.

Petaluma High School, will also pairi� benches tables and the gazebo in Walnut Park during the

month of September, as.a hands on project.

The replacement of the playground assists the City in meeting its ADA requirements for bringing

playground facilities up'to' code.

The purchase and installation, of the playground will cost $60 The Rotary Club of Petaluma is

committed to paying for the price of the playground. 'They currently have some $31,000 on hand,

and will raise the balance; with their spring fundraiser.

Park Playground and to paint remaining park furniture and the gazebo in the park. The proposed

10 WHEREAS,, the City of Petaluma ni'lik bring all city playground's, into compliance with the Americans with
11 Disabilities Act; and

13 WHEREAS, Walnut Park is one of'th& playgrounds needing to be brought into compliance with the
14 ADA; and

1'6 WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of Petaluma,'has successfully contributed to the City of Petaluma over the
17 years, most recently with. the replacement of, the, Playground at McNear. Park; and

19 WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of Petaluma as part of their'bicentennial gift to the City of Petaluma, has
20 offered to replace-the playground in Walnut Park and paint park equipment 'and the gazebo; and

22 WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of Petaluma and the Mother''s Club! of Petaluma have been working with Ross
23 Recreation Equipment of Santa Rosa regarding the de'sign;of the new playground for Walnut Park.; and
