' 1 of the City of Petaluma, California 2 3 4 5 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING DOG OWNERS TO EXERCISE THEIR 6 ANIMALS OFF THE LEASH IN DESIGNATED PARKS 7 AND REPEALING RESOLUTION 94-175 NCS 8 WHEREAS, the Ciry Council had requested the Recreation, Music and Parks 9 Commission to address concerns raised about dogs in parks; and 10 WHEREAS, the Recreation, Music and Parks Commission had investigated 11 how best [o control the use of parks by dog owners exercising their animals; .and 12 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Petaluma has required dog owners 13 ,while exercising their animals to have the means on their person, to clean up after 14 their animal; and 15 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Petaluma had authorized a dog 16 program whereby dog owners could exercise their animals off the leash in designated 17 areas on trial basis; and 18 WHEREAS, the program to exercise dogs off the leash in designated areas has 19 proven to be a success. 20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ciry Council of the City 21 of Petaluma does hereby authorize the Parks and Recreation Department to establish 22 exercise areas for dogs, within designated parks, whereby dog owners may exercise 23 their dogs off the leash, and approves the attached schedule of times and days. 24 25 ]C/ss/N53: cesdog Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City. N-C.S DOG EXERCISE AREAS In all proposed Dog Run areas three rules apply: A responsible person must: a) Stay in the area with the animal. b) Keep the animal under voice control. c) Observe the Anti-Litter Law by cleaning up after the dog.
