1 A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT
2 FOR MCKINLEY SCHOOL'S
3 APPLICATION FOR A HEALTHY START PLANNING GRANT

5 WHEREAS,. the Healthy Start Support Services for Children's Act (SB620)
6 is California's first statewide effort to place comprehensive support
7 services at or near schools; and
8
9 WHEREAS, McKinley School has a growing population of students and
10 families who are eligible to receive services from a Healthy Start Program;
11 and
12
13 WHEREAS, a collaborative of local agencies have been meeting on a
14 monthly basis to develop a program to focus, redirect and integrate existing
15 services and support for at-risk students and families of the McKinley
16 School area; and
17
18 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of. Petaluma has been actively
19 involved in programs to benefit at-risk students.

21 THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
22 Petaluma does hereby support the efforts to obtain a Healthy Start
23 Planning Grant under SB 620, to be used towards the acquisition of a three
24 year operational grant, all of which will benefit the students and their
25 families in the McKinley School area.
Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
