HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 94-170 07/05/1994i; . ..~, ..`' I~~SOIL.ItI®r1 ~~. 94-170 N ~.5. 1 of the City of Petaluma, California RESOLUTION ELECTING TO BE SUBJECT TO THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' MEDICAL AND HOSPITAL CARE ACT ONLY WITH RESPECT TO MEMBERS OF A SPECIFIC EMPLOYEE ORGANIZATION AND FIXING 'I'lIE EARPLOYER'S CONTRIBUTION FOR EA~IPLOYEES AND THE EMPLOYER'S CONTRIBUTION FOR ANNUITANTS AT DIFFERENT AMOUNTS _ FIRE FIGHTERS LOCAL 1415 WHEREAS Government Code Section 22850.3 provides that a contracting agency may elect upon proper application to participate under the Public Employees' Medical and Hospital Care Act with respect to a recognized employee organization only; and WHEAREAS, Government Code Section 22857 provides that a contracting agency may fix the amount of the employer's contribution for employees and the employer's contribution for annuitants at different amounts provided that the monthly contribution for annuitants shall annually be increased by an amount not less than five percent of the monthly contribution for employees, until such time as the amounts are equal; and WHEREAS, City of Petaluma, hereinafter refea-~ed to as Public Agency is a local agency contracting with the Public Employees' Retirement System; and WHEREAS, the Public Agency desires to obtain for the members of the Petaluma International Fire Fighters' Association (Local 1415), who are employees and annuitants of the agency, the benefit of the act and to accept the liabilities and obligations of an employer under the Act. and Regulations; now, therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Public Agency elects, and it does hereby elect to be stuHject to the provisions of the Act; and be it further RESOLVED, that the employer's contribution for each employee shall be the amount necessary to pay the full cost of this enrollment, including the enrollment of his family members an a health benefits plan up to a maximum of $1®0.00 per month; and be it further .~.. .~ Res. No .............9.4-. ~.7.D N.C.S. r .• - 2 3 4 5 6 7 RES®LVED, that the employer's contribution for each annuitant shall be 8 the amount necessary to pay the cost of his enrollment, including the enrollment of his 9 family members in a health benefits plan up to a maximum of $5.00 per month; and be 10 it further 11 12 13 RES®LVED, that the employer's contribution for each annuitant shall be 1.4 increased annually by five percent of the monthly contributions for employees, until 15 such time as the contributions are equal; and that the contributions for employees and 16 annuitants shall be in addition to those amounts contributed by the Public Agency for 17 administrative fees and to the Contingency Reserve Fund; and be it further 18 19 20 RES®LVED, that the executive body appoint and direct, and it does 21 hereby appoint and direct, the City Manager to file with the Board of Administration of 22 the Public Employees' Retirement System a verified copy of this Resolution, and to 23 perform on behalf of said Public Agency all functions required of it under the Act and 24 Regulations of the Board of Administration; and be it further 25 26 2.7 RES®LVED, that coverage under the Act be effective on August fl, 1994.
