RESOLUTION INITIATING PROCEEDINGS
AMERICANA LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE DISTRICT
(Pursuant to the Landscaping and Lighting Act of 1972)
The City Council of the City of Petaluma resolves:
1. The City Council proposes to form an assessment district pursuant to the Landscaping
and Lighting Act of 1972 (Section 22500 and following, Streets and Highways Code) for the
purpose of the following improvements:
The maintenance of all trees, perimeter walls or fencing within the public right-of-way,
street tree planter strips and the pedestrian connection to the Gatti retail site, Sonoma
Mountain Parkway and Ely Road frontage improvements and the cul-de-sac islands
including irrigation as part of "Americana Irrigation to serve all landscaping in the
street tree planter strips in the public areas shown as Concord Way, Centennial Way,
Columbus Street, Mt. Vernon Way, Lexington Street, Mayflower Street, Plymouth
Court shall be designed to connect with the private lot irrigation systems of the adjoining
lots. Following acceptance of right -of-way areas, landscaping other than street trees, and
the irrigation systems serving the landscaping in street tree planter areas, shall be
maintained by owners of the adjoining properties. Separate irrigation systems shall be
established for street frontage areas along Sonoma Mountain Parkway and Ely Road and
the cul-de-sc islands as shown on the Assessment Diagram for Americana Landscape
Maintenance District.
2. The proposed assessment district shall be designated Americana Landscape
Maintenance District, City of Petaluma, Sonoma County, California, and shall include the land
shown on the map designated "Assessment Diagram, Americana Landscape Maintenance
District, City of Petaluma, Sonoma County, California" which map is on file with the City Clerk
and is hereby approved.

3. Tom Hargis, City Engineer, is hereby designated engineer for the purpose of these
formation proceedings. The City Council hereby directs the engineer to prepare and file with the
City Clerk a report in accordance with Article 4 of Chapter 1 of the Landscape and Lighting Act
of 1972.
Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
