HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 93-38 02/16/1993~Z~SOIUtIO~I NO. 93-38 N.~.~. 1 of th~~ Cit>> ~~f Pc'l~~lu~7~~~~, C~~liforni~~ 2 3 A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR A 4 PROJECTS LIST FOR POTENTIAL FUNDING 5 UNDER THE FEDERAL ISTEA PROGRAM 6 FOR FISCAL YEARS 1995-1997 7 WITHIN THE CITY OF PETALUMA 8 9 10 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA AS 11 FOLLOWS: 12 13 WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Petaluma finds that circulation and 14 transportation improvement projects are consistent with the Goals and Objective of the 15 City General Plan; and, 16 17 WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Petaluma desires to maximize, to the 18 extent possible, the City's fair share of available funding under the Federal Intermodal 19 Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA) program. 20 21 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Petaluma that 22 support is given to the projects listed in EXHIBIT 'A' for potential funding under the 23 Federal ISTEA Program. 24 25 26 27 28 istea/sb/agenda/a:2 Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City. Washington St to East D Street. This project will widen.. Lakeville Street, to three- .lanes between E. Washington Street and .East D Street: Widening will occur on the easterly side. on Lakeville Street .and will not .impact existing .structures, additional Right-of--Way will be •required. The widening will 'significantly .improve. capacity and traffic flow ~on the Lakeville Street corridor by providing .left turn lanes at the intersections. This section is a portion of the Petaluma Blvd Downtown. By-Pass. D Street. Widening -Petaluma Blvd.. So. to Fourth Street. This project will widen. D Street by 6 -feet adjacent to Walnut Park to four lanes between Petaluma Blvd So. and Fourth Street. Thee widening will- occur in the walkway area and will not eliminate park lands. The widening. will significantly improve capacity and' traffic flow on the 'D Street comdor by providing a separate right turn .lane on D Street: This. project is combined with: ~- D Street ~ Fourth Street Tuff c Signal This project is combined. with' the. D Street widening project to reduce engineering and contract admnistrative° costs. . Petaluma Blvd So. @ Nlt View Trai~c Signal Projects funded in the Guaranteed.: list. will not. significantly accelerate construction. G_ uaranteed.: funding will insure that projects are not delayed. Copeland Street Transit flub - E. Washington Street to E. I~ Street This project would :construct a transih.:hub .(Bus Transfer Facility) on Copeland Street between E.Washington Street, and- D Street. Local and regional transit services such. as Petaluma Transit, Sonoma County Transit and Golden Gate Transit would benefit. Thee project will replace the existing transit. transfer facilities at 4th_ and C Streets. Passenger shelters and .loading areas will be, included together with a new traffic signal at Copeland Street and E. W. ,ashington Street. This project was identified as the superior alternative in the .1989 Central Transit Transfer Station and Park-n-Ride Study prepared for the City by DKS Associates. The matching funding for :this project will be provided by 13 Caltrans.
