4 RESOLUTION IDENTIFI'ING OPEN SPACE ACQUISITION
5 AND CO1VIlVIUNITY SEPARATOR PRIORITIES
6 IN THE VICINITY OF HAYSTACK LANDING,
7 SOUTH OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA FOR THE
8 SONOMA COUNTY AGRICI<JLTURAL PRESERVATION
9 AND OPEN SPACE DISTRICT AND THE
10 SONOMA COYJNTY PLANNING DEPARTMENT

13 WHEREAS, the owners of land known as Haystack Landing have indicated an
14 interest in obtaining designation for a portion of their land as a community separator and
15 .seeking possible purchase by the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open
16 Space District (SCAPOSD); and

18 WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma has provided, in the past, input into identifying
19 open space acquisition and community separator priorities in and near the City of
20 Petaluma; and

22 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Petaluma, on March 15, 1993 discussed
23 the possibility and merits of selecting a twenty (20) acre portion of the lands known as
24 Haystack Landing as a community separator and recommending purchase by the
25 SCAPOSD.

27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council does hereby
28 support the initiation, by the Sonoma County Planning Department or the property owners,
29 of a General Plan amendment to affect a designation of Community Separator on that
30 twenty (20) acre portion of the lands known as Haystack Landing located south of the
31 Petaluma Urban Limit Line as shown on the attached Exhibit; and

33 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that with respect to the
34 future open space acquisition opportunities available to the Sonoma County Agricultural
35 Preservation and Open Space District, the City Council of the City of Petaluma does
36 hereby support the identification of high priority status for acquisition of open space (e.g.,
37 fee-title, open space easements, development right transfer) for the twenty (20) acre
38 portion of the Haystack Landing property located south of the Petaluma Urban Limit Line.

1 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council
2 hereby encourages the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District
3 to leverage or broker the available open space acquisition funds to all extent possible, in
4 acquiring this priority area and others previously identified by the City Council, to achieve
5 the widest benefit possible given the existing limited funding.
