1. This Memorandum of Understanding shall for aone (1) year
term for the Fiscal Year xcommencing July 1, 'l 7O. through
June 30, 1 979.

6. &ity'of Petaluma Group Dental Insurance Program:
The city shall provide for a group dental insurance program for
City employees .i in this unit. The City shal 1 ' pay, during 1978-79,
the following ;insurance; premium amounts towards the City group
dental insurance coverage program:
• A. .Insu'rance premium amount of $6.86 per month,
per employee :towardsrempl.oyee coverage; 'and
B. Insurance premium amount. of $14.85 per month,
per employee towards dependents coverage for
employee who maintain coverage.
7. Uniform /Clothing Allowance Program:
All employees shall comply with the uniform /clothing requirements
and procedures .as established and administered by the Fire Chief.
The Uniform/Clothing Allowance Program shall be paid in Fiscal
Year 1978 -79, on or before September 5, 1378, for those employees
in the classificat ions of Firefighter and, Fire Captain in the
amount of $100.00 per employee, per year.
Employees hired on or after August 31, 1978, and prior to March 1,
1979, shal 1 be paid the full annual payment amount on or before March- 5,
1979. Employees hired on or .after February 28, 1`979., and prior to
June 30, 1979, shall be paid the full annual payment amount on or
before June 30, 1979. •
An employee 'who :,terminates from City service or is released from City
service shall only receive.a prorata annual amount. An employee who
so separates from City service after any payment has been made shall
return that portion of the; allowance determined by the last day in
City service and the end of the fiscal year. Any employee on leave
of absence without pay or leave status in excess of thirty (30)
calendar days shall receive a prorata amount for the fiscal year.
8. Appendix "A" regarding Overtime is attached hereto and made a part hereof.
The parties affix their signatures as consti_tuting'mutual acceptance 'and
recommendation of this Memorandum of Understanding to become effective
July 1, 1978', upon acceptance and approval of the City Council.

APPENDIX "A"
OVERTIME
The purpose of this section is to clarify matters .relevant to Fire
Department overtime. Any'interpretation.or application relevant to
overtime'shall be resolved by the City Manager, whose determination
is final.
All requirements and procedures relating to overtime as basically
outlined :below shall be as determined and administered by the City:
A. Shift
The members of the Fire Department, when called to work a full
overtime shift, shall be paid overtime at: regular shift
rate (straight time) . An overtime shift is defined as any
continuous period of on - -time exceeding sixteen (16) con-
secutive hours. This rate shall be figured.,on their regular
number of hours'worked per week as per the following formula:
1. Monthly .salary times twelve months
equals annual salary.
2. The average hours worked per week
times fifty -two weeks, equals hours
worked annually.
3. Annual salary, divided by hours
worked annually establishes the
rate, for shift pay.

B. Assigned,Ca11 -back Duty
All Fire Department personnel in the Unit are subject to assigned
call -back duty by the. Fire Chief (for example, ambulance related
duty) at time and one -half at the employee's hourly rate based upon
a 56 hour work week. 'An employee who is assigned to such call -back
duty shall receive, minimum, four.hours. pay at this rate at time
and one -half.
C. Fire Recall. and Special Recall
Off.-Duty-Fire Department personnel and per-sonnel ,required to work
past the .end' of . a shift are . subject to recall and ,will be paid on
an overtime basis, (except as set forth in "A ". and "B" above),
at time and one -half their hourly rate based upon the 56 hour
work
in no'case will they be paid less than one hour when called
nor more than sixteen (16) consecutive, hours at this rate.
Further, when the complete recall exceeds' one hour, but does_not
extend beyond fifteen minutes past the hour, the overtime will
be for one hour When a recall exceeds: one hour and fifteen
minutes, the overtime will be to the nearest half hour (example,
and one-half hour).
Any and all prior practices, procedures, resolutions or understandings
are hereby superseded and repealed. ,
