AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SEND A LETTER
TO THE SONOMA COUNTY WATER AGENCY'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS
AFFIRMING PETALUMA'S SUPPORT FOR
EXTENSION OF THE FLOOD CONTROL ZONE 2A
SPECIAL BENEFIT ASSESSMENT
WHEREAS, the Sonoma County Water Agency provides flood protection services in
Sonoma County; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma resides within Flood Control Zone 2A; and,
WHEREAS, the special benefit assessment authorized by the voters in 1996 will expire
in 2007; and,
WHEREAS, the special benefit assessment provides financing for flood control
activities in Zone 2A; and,
WHEREAS, the Sonoma County Water Agency has begun preparing documentation and
information for reauthorization of the Zone 2A special benefit assessment; and,
WHEREAS, continuation of the special benefit assessment is in the best interest of the
City of Petaluma.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PETALUMA AS FOLLOWS:
1. The above recitals are true and correct and hereby declared to be findings of the City
Council of the City of Petaluma.
2. The Mayor is authorized to send a letter to the Sonoma County Water Agency's
Board of Directors supporting extension of the Flood Control Zone 2A special benefit
assessment.

3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately. All portions of this Resolution
are severable. Should any individual component of this Resolution be adjudged to be
invalid and unenforceable by a body of competent jurisdiction, then the remaining
Resolution portions shall be and.. continue in full force and effect, except as to those
Resolution portions that have been adjudged invalid. The City Council of the City of
Petaluma hereby declares that it would have adopted this Resolution and each section,
subsection, clause, sentence, phrase and other portion hereof, irrespective of the fact
that one or more section subsection, clause sentence, phrase or other portion may be
held invalid or unconstitutional.
Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
