BE IT RESOLVED � by the' Council of the City of Petaluma as
follows:
Section 1.. That tYe.regular.municipal.election in and, for
the City of Petaluma shall behel-d Tuesday,'June 12, 1979, for
the object and -purpose of dlbct' ng the, fohlowing public officers
for said City of Petaluma as,. provided 'in its Cha -iter, to wit:
One (1.) .Mayor -.for theunexpired remainder of a term
which remainder, Ls. two (2) years;
Three (3) Councilmen for 4"the full term ,of four �(4)
years;
Two (2) School Directors as member -.s o;f thbt Board of

Education for `a -term of 'four years --
one (1) Schoo1%-D'rector to be a, member of. the Board.
of Education for a. 'term of two (2) years.
S',ection. 2 ., Said regular- municipal e`lection.hereby 'called

canvassed and the returns thereof'made `and the results thereof
ascertained and determined as provided n''ths resolution. Ex-
sept as ';herein, provided, said ,election- shall, be held and conducted
in accordance with. the Charter of the City, of Petaluma and the
general election 'laws ;incorporated herein ';arid' made, a part hereof .
The provisions of Division XII, Part 2, Chapter 2;, Of the Elections
Code governing elections in cities are hereby incorporated herein
and by.reference made a•:part hereof, .except :as herein otherwise
provided.
Section 3.. All persons qualified to vote at municipal elec--

said regular election only for candidates for the'off`ice of
°School Director, and the City Clerk is hereby authorized and
directed to provide appropriate ballots containing the names of
r
the candidates for School Directors for use in territory outside
the corporate limits of the City of Petaluma, but which has been
annexed to Petaluma School Districts for school purposes,only,
and is within the territorial limits of the Petaluma School
Districts.
Section 4. The ,polls at the pol.l.ing places designated as
hereinafter set out -shall be` opened at 7:00 a.:m. (PDS.T`) of said
day of election and shall be kept open continuously thereafter
until 8:00 p.m. (,PDST) of said day of election, when the,polls
shall be closed (except as provided in Section 14436 o'f the
Elections Code), and the elections officers. shall thereupon.,
proceed to canvass the ballots cast thereat.
Section 5. For the conduct of said regular municipal elec-
tion, the City of Petaluma shall hereafter be divided into muni-
cipal election precincts., by resolution of the City Council, each
of which shall consist of one precinct,'or a consolidation of more
than one of the precincts, -as last theretofore established within.
said City by the -Board of Supervisors of the County of Sonoma for
holding general State and County elections.
Section 6., Where,.paper ballots are to be used in said
regular municipal elections, they shall be in substantially the .

provisions of law; and,, in.addition to any other matters required.

Where voting machines are used in said el,ec.tion., each voter,

Section 8. The City Clerk is hereby directed to cause a
Notice of Election.to be published in the Petaluma ARGUS COURIER,
a daily newspaper of general circulation,, published in, the City
of Petaluma and the official newspaper of said City, as required

.Section 1.0. Voting precincts for said election shall be.as
hereafter established by resolution of the City Council.
Section. 11,;. That the polling, places, selected ,for the various
consolidated precincts'and the 'officers hereby appointed to serve
as election, officers in,said_consolida-ted precincts shall be estab-
lished hereafter by resolution, of - the,.Ci.ty Co,unci;l.
Section ' 12. The City Clerk i's :hereby directed to arrange
for the necessary voting booths and see'that they are properly
erected in each of the �pol.ling places,. when, established. Said
City Clerk shall have the .necessary bal lots ' print'ed and procure
ballot boxes, stamps, ink.pads, affidavits, of reg"istrati,on and
index thereto, tally lists, returns,.envelopes.„and all other
necessary supplies,, and see that they,are;pro,perly distributed
to each voting booth.`,prior to the opening of theppoils on the date
of:said election. The -compensation of the election officers
appointed, -and. each thereof°, for the, 'respective_services, and
