HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2007-016 N.C.S. 01/22/2007 Resolution No. 2007-016 N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California RESOLUTION DISSOLVING THE CITIZENS COMMITTEE FOR ROAD MAINTENANCE IMPROVEMENTS AND CONSTRUCTION ("CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON STREET IMPROVEMENTS") WHEREAS, on September 9, 2003, in Resolution No. 2002-152 N.C.S., responding to public concern over methods used to prioritize work performed on Petahlma's streets, the City Council appointed eleven residents to a Citizens Committee for Road Maintenance Improvements and Reconstruction (later referred to as the Citizens Advisory Committee on Street Improvements) ("the Committee"); and WHEREAS, in June of 2003, the Committee presented its findings to Council, which proved usefitl to staff in its planning process, and quelled public concerns; and WHEREAS, on September 15, 2003, by adopting Resolution No. 2003-186, the City Council adopted the Committee's recommendations for policy and procedures to govern the process of street selection for improvements and standard construction practices; and WHEREAS, at the suggestion of a Council member, the Committee was re-convened on March 15, 2006 to consider the progress of street rehabilitation to date, compare results with original recommendations, and issue further recommendations; and WHEREAS, a great deal of rehabilitation work has been performed since the Committee's formation, which has brought the City's pavement condition rating up into the 60's, and the City now has greater staffing resources with which to achieve a more balanced street improvement program, so the need for continuation of the Committee at this time has diminished. NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Petaluma hereby dissolves the Citizens Committee for Road Maintenance Improvements and Reconstruction formed on September 9, 2002 (also referred to as the Citizens Advisory Conunittee on Street lmprovements) and commends Committee members for their invaluable service to the City. Under the power and authority confen-ed upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
