Breninger Personnel Officer TRANSCRIBER TYPIST 'CLERK DEFINITION Under supervision.,, to do general typing and clerical work; to do typing work with a memory storage typewriter; and to do related work as required. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Types a wide -variety of materials, such as letters, memorandums; reports, legal documents, specifications, studies, records,, lists and other typed items from rough draft copy, final copy, verbal instructions, transcrib- ing machine or materials placed into, or retrieved from, a memory storage -typewriter; may transcribe typed material onto various mediums, such as paper,.multilith, memo - graph or ditto masters, preprinted forms, magnetic storage source; receives work to be performed from various City departments and performs work as a part of a transcribing center; performs routine clerical work and maintains files and records, as required. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Education and Exp'erien'ce: Any combination equivalent to completion of highschool and one year general clerical experience including typing. Knowledge and Ability: Knowledge of office methods, pro- cedures and equipment. Ability to'use and type proper grammar, spelling punctuation., capitalization and vocab- ulary. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Performs or supervises the secretarial, typing and clerical duties of the depa-rtments' office clerical personnel, such as: receive visitors; arrange appointments; take and tran- scribe a variety of .correspondence; memoranda, reports,:meeting"minutes, and other materials; receive, open and process mail and correspondence; establish, revise and maintain files and records; prepare, review and process offi,ci,al documents, records, notifications, agendas, minutes -and other items for accuracy, completeness and conformance ,to applicable rules and• regulations; provide information to the public where judgment, knowledge and interpretation of ,procedures and -regulations are necessary; arrange for,meetings; collect and compile statistical data and other information for inclusion into special and .periodic department reports; assist in preparing depart- mental budget estimates; operate various office equipment and machines. Compiles, arranges, analyzes and interprets data relating to social and economic trends in the city. Makes comparative studies of the land use, population structure, and economic activities of the city. Makes special studies relating to residential, commercial and industrial zoning problems. Assists in 'analyzing needs for new community facilities or services. Assists other planners by performing related research and analysis. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Education and Experience:. Any combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from college in planning;: engineering, architecture or related fields, and one year of experience in planning or related work. Knowledge of: The principles, practices and trends of municipal planning; statistics and graphic presenta- tion; engineering drawing or graphic illustrations.
