HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2006-160 N.C.S. 09/11/2006 Resolution No. 2006-160 N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT SONOMA COUNTY AGRICULTURAL PRESERVATION AND OPEN SPACE DISTRICT MATCHING GRANT APPLICATIONS FOR ACQUISITION OF LANDS IDENTIFIED HEREIN AND FURTHER PROVIDING AUTHORIZATION TO EXECUTE GRANT AGREEMENTS WITH THE OPEN SPACE DISTRICT SHOULD GRANTS BE AWARDED WHEREAS, the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District has announced a competitive program and availability of matching funds for grants in the area of land acquisition for open space preservation and recreation opportunities; and, WHEREAS, said grants are intended to help preserve irreplaceable open space lands in perpetuity in a way that provides environmental enhancement; and, WHEREAS, the City will work toward attaining additional funding to complete the acquisition and implementation of the project; and, WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma has concluded the project proposed for funding with the grant funds would be environmentally beneficial; and , NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the City Council of the City of Petaluma approves the applications for Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District matching grants and hereby directs the City Manager to continue the processing of grant. applications with the SCAPOSD for the acquisition of the following properties: ® Paula Lane o McNear Peninsula (Phase 2) • Benson Property (the "pumpkin patch") Resolution No. 2006-160 N.C.S. Page 1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that if offered said grants, the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to negotiate and accept the grants and execute agreements with the SCAPOSD for the administration of the grant funds pursuant to the grant contract.
