RESOLUTION APPROVING GOALS FOR THE
AFFIRMATIVE ACTION PLAN FISCAL YEAR 1991-92
WHEREAS, this City Council. has approved the
Affirmative Action P]~n by Resolution No. 7001 N . C . S . ; and,
timetables therefore,
WHEREAS, it is necessary ~ establish annual goals and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this council
hereby adopts the goals for the fiscal year 1991-92 contained in Exhibit
"A", attached hereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth.
Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.

SECTION IV
ANALYSIS OF ~EY 90-91 GOALS
GOAL: Place one Spanish surname .employee into the position of
Police Officer.
RESULT : Accomplished.
ANALYSIS : Fourteen officers were hired . 0 ne was a black male,
one a Hispanic female and twelae were white male.
GOAL: Place one female in the posii~on of Maintenance Worker.
RESULT: Not Accomplished.
ANALYSIS: Seven Maintenance Workers were hired during the Fiscal
Year, Of the seven hired,. two were minority males,
one an 'American Indian male and one an Asian male.
G'O AL : Place one female in the position of. Park Maintenance
Worker- .
RESULT : Accomplished.
ANALYSIS: Two Park Maintenance Workers were hired during the
Fiscal. Year. One posi~n was. filled by the
reclassification of Maintenance Worker to a .Parks
Maintenance Worker. A second position was offered to
a female candidate who decline the offer.
GOAL:. Place 'one female in the position of Firefighter.
RESULT: Not:, Accomplished.
ANALYSIS: There were seven hires in the position of Firefighter or
Firefighter/Paramedic during 'the Fiscal Year . 0 ne hire
was Asian male .
GOAL: Place one Asian or Spanish .:female in the position of
Accounting Assistant II.
RESULT: Not.. Accomplished.
ANALYSIS`: There was one hire during the Fiscal Year. The
position was filled by a white female..
OTHER : In addition to these goals., the City gained minority
representation in other' areas. Two females were hired
in 'professional categories (Recreation Coordinator and
Associate Planner) , and two in the technical categories
(Planning Technica.an and .Senior Planniing TechniQan) .
Also, an Asian male was hired as a Civil Engineer
Associate.
GOALS OF FY 91-92
The following goa]s should be established for Fiscal Year 91-92.
GOAL: Place one Asian or Spanish surname female in a clerical position.
GOAL: Police Series -increase minority and female participation by at
]east one per category .
GOAL: Fire Series -increase minority and female participation by at least
one per category .
GOAL: Technical -increase minority and female participation by at least
one per category .
GOAL: Clerical -increase minority participation by at least one Hispanic
female .
GOAL: Maintenance -increase female participation in the maintenance
category .
