RESOLUTION DECLARING SURPLUS PROPERTY AND AUTHORIZING
THE DISPOSITION OF THE CORONA CLUB BUILDING
SITUATED AT 400 CORONA CLUB ROAD
WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma is in the process of purchasing the Corona Club property
for the construction of Sonoma Mountain Parkway; and
WHEREAS, the existing structure is of local interest to the community; and
WHEREAS, the City has no use for the structure for City purposes; and
WHEREAS, it is the City`s preference to allow relocation and retention of the structure in
the Corona/Ely area, rather than demolish it for the construction of the roadway; and
WHEREAS, the City posted a notice of disposition of surplus property and solicited
proposals to effect such relocation; and
WHEREAS, the City has responded to several inquiries and has received only one
proposal to acquire the Corona Club building from the adjacent property owner Karen
Colabianchi; and
WHEREAS, the additional costs associated with relocating the building over razing the
building is warranted to save a structure of local historic interest.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Petaluma, in anticipation of
acquisition, hereby declares the structure known as the Corona Club as surplus property
and authorizes the City Manager to negotiate a contract with the sole bidder, Karen.
Colabianchi, to dispose of the existing structure known as the Corona Club, situated at 400
Corona Road. A contribution not to exceed $7,500 towards the cost to relocate the
building is authorized, provided that responsibility for all such work associated with the
relocation is assumed by the bidder. The City hereby a rees to remove the asbestos
shingles prior to disposition and to allow Colabianchi and~or her contractors to perform
the work on-site necessary for the relocation, including, re-siding of the building and
relocation along the City's right-of-way. In the event bidder is unable to remove the
structure prior to commencement of City's roadwork, this approval is null and void and the
building shall be demolished by City's contractor.
