RESOLUTION UPHOLDING APPEAL REGARDING
PYLON SIGN FOR PETALUMA AUTO PLAZA
WHEREAS, on March 4, 1991, the City Council considered the appeal filed by Visual
Information Systems Company on behalf of Henry Hansel and Robert Benson regarding
SPARC approval of the proposed pylon sign for the Petaluma Auto Plaza; and
WHEREAS, at that time, the City Council considered the record of the SPARC approval
and oral testimony;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby upholds the
appeal of Visual Information Systems Company, and overturns the SPARC condition
limiting the digital reader board to nine feet rather than the twelve feet as requested by the
project proponents;
NOW, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that as indicated by the sign proponents, Mr.
Hansel and Mr. Benson, the Auto Plaza developers will explore with the City of Petaluma
utilization of common software to operate the digital reader board for the Auto Plaza as
well as a proposed digital reader board for the Lucchesi Community Center;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Auto Plaza proponents have agreed that at such
time as Federal and State law permit, they will negotiate in good faith to provide for public
use access for announcements to be displayed on the digital reader board. The City
Manager will represent the City in said negotiations..
