HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION 2024-076 N.C.S. 07/01/2024 DocuSign Envelope ID:2E10BFCD-78CE-494C-86E1-95D9143A8729 Resolution No. 2024-076 N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PETALUMA TO ACCEPT A GRANT AWARD IN THE AMOUNT OF $203,355.89 FROM THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL TO CONDUCT DUI EDUCATION AND ENFORCEMENT CAMPAIGNS,AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO COMPLETE THE GRANT WHEREAS, the California Highway Patrol has been delegated the responsibility by the Legislature of the State of California for the administration of the Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program, setting up the necessary procedures governing the application; and WHEREAS, said procedures established by the California Highway Patrol require the applicant to certify by resolution the approval of the application the State; and WHEREAS, the Petaluma Police Department applied for funding from the CHP Cannabis Tax Fund Grant program FY24/25 for the following items: a contracted film project for three education videos; enforcement campaigns, equipment purchases; social media campaigns; and WHEREAS,the City of Petaluma has received notice of conditional approval for grant funding in the amount of$203,355.89; and WHEREAS, the City Council authorizes the City Manager to execute all documents necessary to complete the grant. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,by the City Council of the City of Petaluma as follows: 1. The above recitals are declared true and correct and are incorporated herein as findings of this Resolution. 2. Finds that the proposed action is exempt from the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) in accordance with CEQA Guidelines Section 15378. Adoption of this resolution is exempt under the "common sense" exception in CEQA Guidelines Section 15061(b)(3), which establishes the general rule for projects concerning which can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility that the activity in question may have a significant effect on the environment as it can be seen with certainty that this Resolution will not have a significant negative effect on the environment as it will be used to for educational campaigns to combat DUI's and additional patrols of existing Petaluma Police officers. 3. Does hereby accept the California Highway Patrol's Cannabis Tax Fund Grant award and authorizes the City manager to execute all documents necessary to complete the grant. Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
