RESOLUTION' NO. 6421 .- N.C .S .
RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE RATES AND CHARGES FOR
THE COLLECTION, OF GARBAGE AND RUBBISH IN THE CITY
OF PETALUMA, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE !PROVISIONS OF
CHAPTER 8 . 16 OF THE PETALUMA MUNICI=PAL CODE, AND
REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 533993 N-C..S

Regular Meeting o the City Council of the City of Petaluma, on the
17f1, day Of September , 1973.
WHEREAS , the Petaluma Sanitary Disposal Company has presented to
this City Council exhibits> and oral evidence+ indicating that the present.
existing charges for the removal and collection of garbage within this city
are insufficient to provide 'it with fair return; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds , after hearing and examining all
the evidence, that the rates and charges for the removal and collection of
garbage and rubbish should-be increased;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED- that pursuant, to Chapter 8 :.16 of
the Petaluma. Municipal Code , the maximum rates and charges for the removal '
and collection of garbage and rubbish are hereby established as follows :
RESIDENCES - .Regular weekly collections :
(1) - 32 gallon .container $ 2 ..2.0 per mo.
'(2) - 32 gallon containers 3. 60 per mo.
(3) - 32 gallon containers 4 . 90 per mo.
(4) - or more. 32 gallon containers add 1 , 20 per/can OJ1
per month
The official collector_ shall pick, up,, •not, more than once a month,
excess rubbish capable of and being placed in a thirty-two (32.) gallon or
two (2) sixteen (16) gallon containers which do ,not exceed fifty (50) pounds
in weight, if placed upon the planting strip or upon the property within
five (5) feet of the street right of way..
In addition, the official collector shall collect once a week
lawn cuttings ? dead plants and garden trimmings, provided, the same are
placed in 'b-oxes ot'cartons not larger than 24 inches x 24 .:inches x 24 inches.,.
and are placed on the planting strip, or on the property- with in five (5)
feet of the street right of way . Tree, trimmings 'not over 2- inches in
diameter and five (5) feet in, length shall also be collected once a week.
Collections in excess of fifty (50) pounds in ke.i:ght or made more
than once a month shall be charged for at the rate of $0,,410 for each fifty

Material of a bulky or other nature not reasonably capable
of being placed in a container of thirty-two (32) gallons or less,
shall be charged for by the cubic yard or weight, as the case may, be,
at a rate to benegotated between the parties but, in no event, shall
the rate exceed One and 95/10'0 Dollars 01.95) per month per cubic yard
or one hundred (100) pounds.
Unusual accumulations of a one-time nature, and not the result
of normal activities , shall be charged for- at a rate to be negotiated
between the parties-,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Garbage and'. Rubbish Collection
Contract. dated January 26 , 1960 , paragraph 5 , thereof, be' amended to
read as follows,:
"In consideration for the privilege of Obtaining, the
exclusive right to conduct said business of removing
garbage and rubbish from the City, the Company' shall
pay to the City One Hundred Dollars ($1000'0) per month" .
_BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the appropriate officiaFsl; of-the
Company should acknowledge the provisions Of this r,esOlution by affixing
their signatures and appropriate seal to the original of this resolution.
`BE, IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the rates and charges established
herein shall become effective ;as of .November 1, 1973,
BE IT -FURTHER RESOLVED that Resolution No, 5393 N.C., ., be,
and the same is hereby repealed as of November 1., 197'3 .
