"UNITED ,, Y WEEK",_ PETALUMA., CALIFORNIA INTRODUCED BY COUNGILMAN...2j� 'c=L 4c--4- L1 ' LILe LIZ.Z,L fz.LG:;l1�L-) and 9 d SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN Yria . ` O } ata Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Petaluma, on the 17th day of September 19 73 WHEREAS , the United Way appeal for voluntary health and youth services is important to the .stability and progress of the City of Petaluma; and WHEREAS , the youth opportunity services , delinquency prevention agencies , family service and adoption agencies , drug abuse and rehabili- tation services and many other community services are hard-pressed to keep pace with the needs of a growing community; and WHEREAS , these services provide youth and character building pro- grams : help prevent delinquency, drug and family breakdown; provide services in rehabilitation, health and adoption , help in disasters and offer aid to servicemen; and WHEREAS , the City of Petaluma has a responsibility to raise addi- tional funds in 1973 for these important and vital services ; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT' RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Petaluma hereby proclaims the week of September 24 - 28 , 1973 , "United Way Week' in Petaluma, and calls upon all citizens to volunteer their best efforts and time to the United Way, to increase their con- tributions in order to meet the aforementioned growing needs; to be thankful for this opportunity to help our fellow man, and to be grate- ful for the help offered to all citizens of the City of Petaluma by United Way services. under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said,City. I.hereby certify'tle the foregoing Resolution was duly and regulary introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Petaluma on the - 17th day of September , 1973 , by the following votes: AYES: Councilmen Brunner, Cavanagh, Jr.,, Daly, , Harberson.,� Perry, Jr. , and Mayor Putnam. /9 /J ;.
