REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
TO CONSOLIDATE A REGULAR. MUNICIPAL ELECTION
TO BE MELD ON NOVEMBER 6,1990,
V`'ITI-I THE STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Petaluma has called a Regular Municipal Election to
be held on November 6, 1990, for the purpose of the election of a Mayor and three
Members of the City Council for four year terms; and
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Petaluma has called a Regular Municipal Election to
be held on November 6, 1990, for the purpose of election of three Petaluma School
Board Trustees for four year terms, one Petaluma School Board Trustee for a two
year term; and
WHEREAS, It is desirable that the Regular Municipal Election be consolidated with the
Statewide General election to be held on the same date and that within the City the
precincts, polling places and election officers of the two elections be the same, and
that the County Election Department of the County of Sonoma canvass the returns
of the Regular Municipal Election, and that the election be held in all respects as if
there were only one election:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the City Council of the City of Petaluma does resolve,
declare, determine and order as follows:
1. Pursuant to the City Charter and Election Code Section 23302, the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Sonoma is hereby requested to consent and
agree to the consolidation of a Regular .Municipal Election with the
Statewide General election on Tuesday, November 6, 1990, for the purpose
of the. election. of a Mayor, 3 Members of the City Council and 3 Members of
the Petaluma School Board of Trustees for four year terms.
2. The County Election Department is authorized to canvass the returns of the
Regular Municipal Election. The election shall be held in all respects as if
there were only one election, and only one form of ballot shall be used.

3. The Board of Supervisors is requested to issue instructions to the County
Election Department to take any and all steps necessary for the holding of
the consolidated election.
4. The City of Petaluma recognizes that additional costs may be incurred by the
County by reason of this consolidation and agrees to reimburse the County
for such costs.
5. The City Clerk shall file a certified copy of this resolution with the Board of
Supervisors and with the County Election Department.
