MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING EXECUTED
BY .THE CITY MANAGER WITH THE PETALUMA
POLICEOFFICERS ' ASSOCIATION.

the City Council of the City of Petaluma on the 5th day of June 1972
BE IT RESOLVED THAT •
WHEREAS, ;The City. Manager has concluded extensive meetings
and conferring sessions with' '.the Petaluma Police Officers ' Association, ,
with respect to .terms and conditions of employment of their members ;
and
WHEREAS ,. the City. Manager has executed a Memorandum of
. Understanding with the 'officers of the Petaluma Police Officers '
Association, and further, he has recommended that council ratify the
said Memorandum of. Understanding to be effective July 1, 1972 ;
' NOW, THEREFORE,. BE IT RESOLVED. that the Memorandum of Under-
standing, executed' by the City Manager and the officers. of the Petaluma
Police Officers ' Association, being the, same as hereby -ratified and
approved; and the terms and conditions: of- the said Memorandum of Under-
.standing shall be effective as of July 1, 1972 .
under the power and authority conferred ypon this Council by the Charter of said City.

Dear Madam Mayor and Gentlemen :
Please be advised that the Petaluma Police Officer's
Association and City Management:, having met and conferred
in good faith recommend that you adopt for the 1972-73
fiscal year the following :
1. As a one year education benefit, an employee in
the .classification of Police Officer shall
receive $25 . 00 per month for either an Inter-
mediate or an Advanced Post Certificate . This
benefit shall start with the first payroll in
July, 1972 or the first payroll following
official notification to the, Personnel Officer
by a copy of his certificate. (If a person
holds an Intermediate and an Advanced Post
Certificate , he will receive only $25 . 00 per
month. ) The City recognizes that the Petaluma
Police, Officer' s Association agreed to the
educational benefit as' stated above only in
view of the restrictions of the Wage and Price
Board. This item will be a matter for con-
tinued discussion next year.
2 . That the City Council approve the renewal of
the health plan with the County of Sonoma and
pay the full amount of $17 .02 per month as billed
by the County for each employee ' s coverage .
3 . The salary ranges shall be as follows :
Juvenile Officer (Sergeant) *$916 - $1114
Police Officer $792 - $963
Police Dispatcher/Clerk $577 - $702
Parking Meter Officer $598 - $727
Animal Control Officer $613 - $745
