FiJNI3ING F®R TI-IE SONOMA COUNTY AGRICiJLTIJRAL PRESERVATION
AND OPEN SPACE DISTRICT
WI3EREAS, the natural beauty of Sonoma County significantly enhances the
quality of our lives,
WI-IEREAS, preservation of this natural beauty -the forested mountains,
extensive pastures, the many vineyards and orchards, the open rolling. hills of our
spectacular coastline and our lakes, rivers and streams - is of paramount concern to all
of us, now and in the future,
WHEREAS, estimated population growth of the San Francisco Bay area will
undoubtedly increase the numbers of people who wish to reside in Sonoma County as a
whole and the City of Petaluma in particular; thus, making retention of our farmlands,
scenic views and open space ever more difficult,
'VUPIEREAS, Measure A of Sonoma County's November General Election ballot
will establish the necessary and proper organization which will allow landowners to
protect their land for agricultural purposes and/or for its natural beauty,
WI-IEREAS, the same Measure A gives priority to establish community
separators between. the cities of our County,.
WI~EREAS, Measure A further ensures the ability of our cities to participate
with the County in establishing open space areas within city boundaries,

WhIEREAS, Measure C on that same ballot will ensure that there will be
sufficient funds to compensate WILLING sellers who voluntarily choose to ensure
retention of their land's natural beauty and relinquish their development rights,

residents to support and vote for Measure A and Measure C in this November's Sonoma
County General Election.
