INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMAN ////1/7 l r. • 1 / 1,4 41 • ,, A Regular . .:-.. f At Meeting of the City Council of the City of Petaluma on the 2nd day of October 1972-.-- WHEREAS , the recent election held concerning Sonoma County Water Agency. Ordinance No. 1 was placed on the ballot and voted on by all the electors of the: :County. of .Sonoma', and WHEREAS., many of the: electorate: :voting upon said measure :were not water users and not customers of the 'Sonoma Water. Agency, and • WHEREAS, the 'election was not one requested by: the customers of the. Sonoma County. Water. Agency , and WHEREAS , the customers of .the Sonoma County. Water Agency are . desirous of being able to, obtain water, .at- :the least possible ;cost .for . . the benefit of their .consumers., ,and WHEREAS, if the Sonoma' County. Water. Agency is. required to bear a portion of the .cost ;of the' ;recent election that Agency will necessarily pass on its: cost to the :ultimate .consumer by i'ncr'easing the :cost of water. to the purchaser bringing: upon :them a burden they did not 'seek or desire, . and WHEREAS , this Council finds and deems that requiring Sonoma County Water. Agency: to: bear a portion of the :cost of a county-wide election is: unfair and that said cost should be borne by the County as a whole ;. • NOW,: THEREFORE ,: BE IT RESOLVED,. that the City Council. of the . City. of Petaluma urgently reaues:ts: that theY Board. of Supervisors reboil- sider its: position in this" matter and that it. require :the .county as a wh'ole :to bear the: 'cost'. Of the election. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies. of this resolution be' forwarded to 'all: agencies contracting for the service of water with the 'Sonoma County Water Agency with a req'uest .that they pass a similar resolution to bO forwardd .to :the. Board of Supervisors .' BE :-ITFURTHER RESOLVED that :the City. Clerk is hereby: directed • to• forward to the: Board. of .Supervisors'.
