22 GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT

24 Sheri Cardo, Petaluma, spoke regarding the Petaluma Animal Shelter. She understands rising
25 costs but asked Council to keep an open mind about having the shelter run by a non-profit.

27 Wendi Thomas, Petaluma Coalition to Prevent Alcohol and Other Problems, reminded Council
28 that she had spoken at the 2011 City Council Goals Workshop regarding an ARNO or ACE
29 officer. Council told her it was a priority then, but she has not seen much happen. She suggested
30 a fee structure requiring businesses selling alcohol to contribute a nominal tee towards funding
31 for an officer.

33 C.J. Holmes, C.J. Holmes Brokerage, Santa Rosa, spoke in support of a Foreclosure Prevention
34 Zone.

36 Tim Nonn, Occupy Petaluma, presented a draft resolution supporting a Foreclosure Prevention
37 Zone. He spoke of the shame and self-blame that many whose homes are foreclosed upon feel,
38 and said that, "Those on Wall Street are the only ones who should be ashamed."

40 Pam Granger, Petaluma, speaking for American Lung Association, asked Council to update'the
41 City's smoking policies. She said that Sonoma County has passed great policies to reduce
42 exposure to second-hand smoke. She provided Council with a model smoking ordinance. She

1 also spoke about the Implementing Zoning Ordinance and suggested it be amended to
2 disallow any new tobacco shops being opened within 1,000 feet of schools or parks.

4 Janice Cader-Thompson, Petaluma, asked Council to look at the financing for goals.
