HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2012-025 N.C.S. 03/05/2012 Resolution No. 2012-025 N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California ACCEPTING COMPLETION OF THE `C' STREET PUMP STATION UPGRADE PROJECT WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 68 of Article X of the City of Petaluma Charter, Section 20162 of the California Public Contract Code and other applicable laws, the City of Petaluma solicited bids for the `C' Street Pump Station Upgrade Project ("Project"); and, WHEREAS, bids for the Project were opened on July 14, 20W in accordance with California Public Contract Code Section 4104.5 and other applicable laws; and, WHEREAS, the apparent low bid for the Project was the bid of Pacific Infrastructure Corporation (PIC) in the amount of$2,305,000; and, WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 2010-153 N.C.S. adopted August 2, 2010, the City Council of the City of Petaluma found the bid of$2,305,000 for the Project to be the lowest responsive bid and awarded the Project to Pacific Infrastructure Corporation in the amount of $2,305,000 conditioned on PIC's timely executing the Project contract and submitting all required documents and authorized and directed the City Manager to sign the Project contract on behalf of the City upon such timely submission and to execute on behalf of the City any amendments to the Project contract that are necessary to effectively complete the project and/or to realize the Project and/or cost benefits for the City; and, WHEREAS, the following change orders (CO) affecting the Project amount have been approved: CO No. 1 Electrical modifications due to PG&E transformer requirements $17,701.00 CO No. 2 Electrical modifications to thermal air flow switches $2,220.00 CO No. 3 Extra work for soundwall; modifications to water system, core sizes $12,322.00 CO No. 4 Misc. electrical and mechanical modifications $5,917.00 CO,No. 5 Extra work at wet well to remove ex. coatings and prepare walls $10,062.92 CO No. 6 Extra work at support beams; piping modifications at 6" pump $13,007.00 CO No. 7 Extra work for roof demo; asbestos pipe removal; add shut off valve $10,541.00 CO No. 8 Electrical and piping modifications; extra work at ex. concrete walls $14,903.00 CO No. 9 Extra work at cathodic protection, irrigation sleeves & dry well paint $18,475.00 CO No. 10 Modifications to fence and entry platform; extra work at analog scale $11,505.00 CO No. 11 Extra work at by-pass pumps, discharge piping, tile coating, supports $18,857.00 CO No. 12 Structural modifications; extra work at stair handrails and gate $17,250.00 CO No. 13 Modifications at electrical pad per PG&E; extra work at air-gap tank $17,321.00 CO No. 14 Paving modifications $19,995.00 Resolution No. 2012-025 N.C.S. Page 1 CO No. 15 Grading modifications to conform to existing site conditions $14,806.00 CO No. 16 Site drainage improvements $19,039.00 CO No. 17 Extra site work including curb, gutter and sidewalk conforms $8,527.00 Total Change Orders $232,448.02 WHEREAS, the final contract amount as amended including all change orders is $2,537,448,92; and, WHEREAS, City staff has inspected the Project and determined that it has been completed in accordance with the contract requirements subject to the Contractor's continuing warranty and other obligations pursuant to the contract; and, WHEREAS, based on the foregoing, staff recommends acceptance of the Project on behalf of the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Petaluma as follows: 1. The contract entitled 'C' Street Pump Station Upgrade , City Project Number C00500205 with a final contract amount of$2,537,448,92, is accepted as complete subject to the Contractor's continuing warranty and other obligations pursuant to the contract. 2. The City Clerk/Recording Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to file a Notice of Completion concerning the Project with the Sonoma County Clerk's Office within ten (10) days of the date of this Resolution. 3. Staff is hereby authorized and directed to release all undisputed retention not subject to pending change orders within sikty (60) days of the date of this Resolution and in accordance with the terms of the Project contract, California Public Contract Code Section 7107 and applicable law.
