AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA
AMENDING PETALUMA MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 11.40
CONCERNING REGULATION OF VEHICLE PARKING
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Amendment. Section 11.40.060 of the Petaluma Municipal Code is hereby amended
to read as follows:
Parking on street or alley in excess of seventy-two hours.
No person who owns or has possession, custody or control of any vehicle shall
park or leave standing such vehicle upon any street or alley for a period of more
than seventy-two consecutive hours. For purposes of this section, a vehicle shall
be considered to have been parked or left standing for more than seventy-two
consecutive hours if it has not been moved at least one-half mile during such
period. Any vehicle parked or left standing in violation of this section may be
removed in the manner and subject to the requirements of the California Vehicle
Code.
Section 2. Addition. Section 11.40.210 is hereby added to the Petaluma Municipal Code
to read as follows:
Interference with parking regulation.
No person shall remove, obliterate, conceal, or otherwise interfere with any chalk
mark or other distinguishing mark used by any police officer or other officer,
employee, or agent of the city in the enforcement of the parking regulations of the
city, for the purpose of evading said parking regulations.

1 Section 3. If .any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase or word of this ordinance. is for
2 any reason held to be unconstitutional, unlawful or otherwise invalid by a court of competent
3 jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this
4 ordinance. The City Council of the City of Petaluma hereby declares that it would have passed
5 and adopted this ordinance and each and all provisions thereof irrespective of the fact that any
6 one or more of said provisions be declared unconstitutional, unlawful or otherwise invalid.

8 Section 4. This ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after the date of its adoption by
9 the Petaluma City Council.

Section. 5. The City Clerk is hereby directed to post this ordinance for the period and in the
manner required by the City Charter.
