21 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA AS
22 FOLLOWS:

24 Section 1. Section 9.08.120 of Chapter 9.08 "Animal Ownership and Keeping" of the
25 Petaluma Municipal Code is hereby amended by amending 9.08.120.F to read as follows:

27 9.08.120 Animals at barge.
28 F. No person owning or otherwise having a cat over six (6)
29 months of age in his care, charge, control, custody or
30 possession shall cause, permit or allow such cat to be in or
31 upon any public street, road, alley or other public or private
32 place other than animal owner's property unless such cat is
33 spayed or neutered. An animal control officer is
34 empowered to seize and impound every cat found in
35 violation of this section and shall require owners of the cat
36 to either spay or neuter the cat or to produce a certificate of
37 sterilization signed and dated by a veterinarian which lists
1 the veterinarian's .name, clinic's name, address, telephone ,
2 license number, pet name, age, breed and adequate
3 description of the cat.

5 Section 2. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase or word of this ordinance
6 is for any reason held to be unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision
7 shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance. The City Council of the
8 City of Petaluma hereby declares that it would have passed and adopted this ordinance and each
9 and all provisions thereof irrespective of the fact that any one or more of said provisions be
10 declared unconstitutional.

12 Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to post this ordinance for the period and in
13 the manner required by the City Charter:
