19 Terence Garvey, 83 Maria Drive, spoke regarding the budget for the 'water
20 recycling/sewer treatment plant.

22 David Glass, 41 Oxfo rd Co urt; spoke regarding campaign'contribution limits.

1< 24 Michael John,Gerke, Mike's. Glass, 120 Washington Street, spoke in opposition
25 to tree planting on Washington Street.

27 Jo Ann Ritko Pozzi, 1310 Sunset;Drive, asked Council to postpone tree planting
28 on Washington Street.

30 Vasco Brazil, 4551 Lakeville Highway, spoke regarding the current energy crisis •
31 and weed control on.City property; he noted that he,was riot happy that thistle
32 weed seeds were blowing,onto his property.

36 Council Member Torliatt replied to Mr. Brazil's comments regarding pumping
37 water out of ponds:

39 Council Member Moynihan spoke regarding 'a groundbreaking ceremony he
• 40 attended on April 4 for-therwidening,of Highway 101 ,between Wilford Avenue in
41 Rohnert Park,and`the Highway 12, nterchange in Santa Rosa.

43 Council Member Healy .thought that planting trees along the sidewalks on
44 Washington Street did not present a hazard and added that the pedestrian
a45 crossing signals at the intersection of Kentucky and Washington Streets were

1 broken. He announced that a pedestrian liglited crosswalk was planned-for the
2 intersections, of ;Liberty and Washington Streets or Keokuk and 'Washington
3 Streets,, He.also noted;that=thes.list of Petaluma.projects included in the•Sonoma
4 County Transportation Agency's (SCTA) Transportation Plan (Plan) was a draft
5 submitted by City` Management, not by !elected officials: He concluded! ,his
6 remarks by asking`City Management to add to the May 7 agenda a discussion
7 and possible direction regarding the prioritization-of Petaluma's projects included
8 in the Plan; he wanted the discussion to include the location• of a cross-town
9 connectorT.in Petaluma.

11 Vice Mayor Cader-Thompson reported she was one of three Council Members
12 who attended the•SCTA meeting earlier that..day. She had questions regarding
13 the budget project list. She-commended the City Clerk for facilitating the .
14 recent `Citizen's Involvement Night at the Community Center; noting that. 45
1`5 people participated; and that those present were enthusiastic about becoming
16 more 'involved in community service. She also announced the upcoming
17 Petaluma River Clean Up Day sponsored by U.S..Filter, to take place on May 12
18 at the Petaluma'Marina. .

13 Andy Camozzi, Sonoma County Farm Bureau, 1795-Pepper Road, supported
14 spot spraying.

16 Nick Frey, 5000 Roberts Lake Road, Suite A, Rohnert: Park, Sonoma County
17 Grape Growers Association, neither supported nor,opposed forced spraying.

19 Jim Haire, 2900 Skaggs 'Road, spoke,in support of the use of alternatives such
20 as oils, soaps; spray as a•last resort.

22 Jens Kullberg, 1036 Stage Gulch Road', North Bay Agriculture Alliance,
23 supported the'use of spray only when needed.

25 John Westby, Agricultural Commissioner, supported a continuation of work with
26 the different groups towards solutions over the next two weeks.

30 Mayor Thompson encouraged both sides to continue to meet and`try'to reach a
31 solution.

33 Council Member Torliatt agreed and added that;she'thought there should be no
34 forced spraying on private property. Greater public awareness regarding relative
35 health issues was important. She noted that Supervisor Kerns was open to other
36 alternatives.

38 Council Member Maguire agreed that the .health, and welfare of the community
39 was atistake and cooperation was the key to success. He preferred not to have
40 forced spraying.

42 Council Member Healy wanted to wait on .adopting a resolution to see if parties
43 reached a solution.
