SUBJECT: INTERNAL AFFAIRS INVESTIGATION # 20TR-0005

This notice is to inform you that the Petaluma Police Department is currently involved in an investigation regarding your conduct on
or about July 20, 2020.
It is alleged that on or about July 20, 2020 you committed an unlawful battery and applied unreasonable and unwarranted force against
the person of during a contact with her in the Emergency Room parking lot of Petaluma Valley Hospital. This alleged
unlawful battery and use of force occurred while you were on duty and in uniform.
It is further alleged that during the same incident on or about July 20, 2020 you used profane, derogatory language and acted in a
discourteous and disrespectful manner toward that reflected unfavorably upon the Petaluma Police Department.
It is further alleged that during the same incident on or about July 20, 2020 the unlawful battery committed against was
motivated by a desire on your part to engage in sexual gratification.
You are hereby ordered to cooperate fully with this investigation and to answer all questions posed to you by me (or by an alternate
designated investigator) in a complete and truthful manner. You are further ordered to obey any lawful order given to you by me (or
by an alternate designated investigator). As of this writing, I am the designated investigator of this incident, and I expect to be the sole
interviewer.
Failure/refusal to cooperate with this investigation and to answer all questions completely and truthfully could be considered an act of
insubordination and can be an independent basis for disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
This investigative interview will be audio recorded. You have the right to bring your own recording device and record any and all
aspects of the investigative interview.
You have the right to a representative of your choice, who may be present at all times during the investigative interview. This
representative shall not be a person subject to the same investigation. If the interview takes place during off-duty hours, you will be
compensated in accordance with regular department procedures.
In previous written notifications, you were also advised of your placement on administrative leave until further notice. As of this
writing, those terms remain in effect.
Please contact me as soon as possible to set up a date, time, and location for an interview on this matter.
