He stressed that the pothole group is 25 nqt responsible 'for those acts of vandalism, indicating there had been 26 unfounded accusations made. He requested a formal, public apology. 27 28 Geoffrey Cartwright, Petaluma addressed the City Council, indicating he is. glad 29 to see Council supportive of getting the streets fixed.. She also rem'Grked that the " ~IeIY t'he 14 Truth" political group of 'Santa'.. Rosa has. been. going; door-to-door conducfing a 15 negative campaign against two Petaluma City Council cdndiddtes. She 16 commented that 'this campaign season has been porhiculdrly offensive and 17 concluded by stating that, unfortunately, the focus; has been about money and_ 18 not about the community. 19 20 Council Member To"r_liatf commented o;n the Adobe del Oro Action. Group 21 request regarding the Southgate Project and,. stated she hopes the. Planning 22 Commission will first hear this issue:. She added she hopes 32 people do their homework, become informed and come out to vote on 33 November 5, 2002. She stated she felt a particular council member had mocked and 15 belittled' certain. members of the committee. 16 17 CO'UfVGIL~'COMMENT _ . 18 19 Mayor Thompson read into the record a letter he and,Vice Mayor Healy had co- 20 authored, which was specifically directed to the individuals responsible for 21 stealing and defacing political signs in the community. 22 23 Council ;Member O'Brien stated. his support for the letter from Mayor Thompson 24 and Vice Mayor Healy. 25 26 Council Member Maguire agreed and conveyed; what~he.has experienced: aver 27 the last few weeks. 28 29 Council Member Caller-Thompson thanked the "Superb 7" for coming to the 30 Council lvleeting' this evening and congratulated Susan Simons for 'her 31 participation in making the newly renovated Animal Shelter a reality.. 32 33 With regard to election campaigning, Council Member Caller=Thompson 34 commented 'on the negative campaigning and misinformation that the "To. Tell 35 the Truth" Group is disseminating; and, noted she was not endorsed by `the Press' 36 Democrat or the ,_Argus because of negative comments made by other' 37 candidates who indicated she was not a team player. 38 39 Council. Pamela T.u.ft; Director of the General .Plan, gave the staff' report and indicated no specific action is necessary this evening. It was rioted. the next steps include public outreach through distribution of the Report, workshops and GommtteeyCommssion meetings. The Airport Commission is scheduled to discuss the Report in November and a City Council Work Shop is proposed for'Noverpber 18, 2002. City Council discussion ensued :regarding. proposed; enhancements to t:he Report and clearer language regarding "Sustaina,bility''' on page two of the Execufi e Surpmary. It was noted that a calendar of public meetings would be available:. Council also pointed out the Urban Growth- Boundary areas should be clearly stated. that they are "'potential." areas.
