HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2012-090 N.C.S. 06/18/2012 Resolution No. 2012-090 N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California AUTHORIZING THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO ACCEPT A CERTIFIED UNIFIED PROGRAM AGENCY (CUPA) ELECTRONIC REPORTING GRANT WHEREAS, A.B. 2286, effective January 1, 2009, requires that by March 31, 2013, all regulated businesses and local governments use the Internet to file their regulatory reports, including facility data regarding hazardous material regulatory activities, chemical inventories, underground and aboveground storage tanks and hazardous waste generation, which are now being filed by paper; and, WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma is certified by the California Environmental Protection Agency to be a Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA) and is therefore required to comply with the electronic reporting requirements that make up the California Environmental Reporting System (CERS); and, WHEREAS, the Petaluma Fire Department and the Petaluma CUPA has been awarded grant funds from the California Environmental Protection Agency (CAL/EPA) in the amount of $38,636 to implement the requirements of A.B.2286; and, WHEREAS, accepting the grant from CAL/EPA will allow the City to update and complete its CUPA system and enable the City to comply with AB 2286. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council authorizes the Petaluma Fire Department and the Petaluma CUPA to accept grant CAL/EPA funds in the amount of$38,636 to implement and administer the local CUPA CERS program. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager, or his designee, is hereby authorized to take all actions and complete all documents necessary to accept the grant and use the grant funds to implement the CUPA system upgrade. Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
