If more than three persons wish to address the Commission on the same topic, they are encouraged to select:a;spokesperson who will be allocated equal time of no more than five minutes and no less than any other individuals speaking. The Commission reserves the right to limit the Public Comments to fifteen minutes. The Chairman will call on individuals whose names appear on the speaker cards. Speakers will be acknowledged by the Chairman or a Commissioner and may be asked questions for clarfication. The Commission will hear public comments only on matters.over which they have jurisdiction. No action can be taken by the Commission on these items; however, the Commission may refer questions to City Management for review. The Commission would also request that you focus your comments to the issues only. No personal attacks • or comments on any individual's integrity-will be tolerated. Continued from June-18th: Discussion and Possible Action on Setting Water Rates and Charges Pursuant-to•Chapter 15.16 of the-Petaluma Municipal Code and Repealing Resolution No. 00-185 N.C.S. An Increase to Water Service Rates is Needed to Fund Continued Proper Operation and Maintenance of the Water Utility. The Primary Factors Behind the Need for a Rate Increase are a 19% Increase in the Cost of Purchasing Water From the Sonoma County Water Agency, and an Estimated 50% Increase in Electrical Costs and Funding Needs for the Water System Five Year Capital Improvement Program. A.Year 2001 Annual Water Cost Survey for Bay Area Cities Indicates the Average Monthly Cost of Water Service for a Single-Family Residence isApproximately $30. The Last Water Rate Increase in Petaluma was in November of'2000. Currently, the Average Monthly Retail Water Charge for a Single-Family Home in Petaluma.is $22..
