This includes facilitating a special problem-solving subcommittee meeting., My big goals for the next four years: 1. Open Lafferty Park,=through successful sale of development rights to SCAPOSD and volunteer contributions of Friends of Lafferty Park. 2. Complete work on Parks;.Arts;,and Recreation (PAR),Master Plan;,as component of Petaluma General Plan re-write, and usethe public involvement/enthusiasm/ownership generated through this process as a springboard for launching a.PAR bond measure:to fund acquistion, improvement;and maintenance of facilities. Until we see the.revolution in how local governments are funded,.a well designed:bond measure, paralleled by support from a new localyfoundetion of some kind,(per the prototype work of the Kates last year), is:our only forneeded upgrades in turf-ball facilities and, specialty sites like Lawn Bowls and,BMX 3. Get OSD funding to complete acquisition of McNear Peninsula and.acquire all of the Magnolia Hill property. for a park. Smaller, objectives include: 1. Supporting City Staffs efforts to do,more with less, while keeping morale.and retention, high, in part by including sustainability principles (no waste, reduce mowing and watering, etc.) 2: Encourage more neighborhood "adoption" of parks through "working parties" like:the tree planting;along the Lynch Creek bikeway. 3. Getting more mileage out of our swim center, tapping the energy and skill of the aquatics constituency: 4. Develop atclose relationship with Petaluma arts groups, help give visual and performing arts greater visibilit and;impact of daily Petaluma life. • • 5.
