Introduced by Councilman Seconded by Councilman John Balshaw Vice Mayor Sobel TITLE 4 OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA ADDING PETALUMA MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 4.28, AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE PENAL CODE REQUIREMENTS RELATING TO THE SELECTION AND TRAINING STANDARDS OF PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCHERS BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA AS FOLLOWS Section 1. Chapter 4.28 of the Petaluma Municipal Code, is hereby added to read as follows "Chapter 4.28 SELECTION AND TRAINING STANDARDS OF PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCHERS Sections 4.28.010 Purpose. 4.28.020 Adherence to Standards 4.28.030 Inquiries 4.28.040 4.28.010 Purpose. The City of Petaluma declares that it desires to qualify to receive aid from the State of California under the provisions of Section 13522, Chapter 1, of Title 4, Part 4, of the California Penal Code. 4.28.020 Adherence to Standards. Pursuant to Section 13510(c), Chapter 1, the Petaluma Police Department will adhere to standards for recruitment and training established Ord. 1764 N.C.S. ' + by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) . 4.28.030 Inquiries. Pursuant to Section 13512, Chapter 1, the Commission and its representatives may make such inquiries as deemed appropriate by the Commission to ascertain that the Petaluma Police Department's public safety dispatcher personnel adhere to standards for selection and training established by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training." 4.28.040 Statutory Severability. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this chapter is, for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of the chapter.
